nice looking rifle. I got one about 3 years ago. S/N 249. It was a "classic" firearm. I like having a gun the doesn't have mags and only holds a few rounds. Makes range time last a bit longer.

I've found that a hand held steamer with pencil tip works ridiculously well with removing all cosmoline from everywhere. Just need to dry it back off with compressed air and spray with gun oil after. Looks like you picked yours up from Bud's, too, lol. Even looks like a 1969 model like mine. I refinished mine with walnut stain and couldn't be happier. As far as the firing pin, I always buy a new pin set from Murray's that comes with a small spring for slam fire insurance.

Came for the wood refinishing. Thanks. One of mine is just as bad in cosmoline and 2 have rough stocks. You gotta remove the firing pin and the gas rod and spring from the rear sight block.

For what its worth...the best method I have used so far cleaning up an SKS rifle is to fill a large pot of boilng water and a (Lets do this) bucket from Home Depot take the metal parts off and put them in bucket and hold rifle with one finger and poor the boiled water down the rifle and all the parts in the bucket..fastest and best method for me and my SKS rifles..gets em really clean no chemicals just super hot water...no scrubbing...no mess compared to other methods...works for me...hope it works for you as well....... good luck....KEEP ON ROCKING IT!...Never enough Ammo.....

Very nice job on the cleanup. Your content is always entertaining if nothing else. I picked one up about a year ago in the 350xx serial range from a local chess shop. Most everything out there right now is in the post 7 serial ranges...much more difficult to justify. How did you.fix the upper handguard?

Cleaned mine off from Palmeto its nice but the stock is wore. 1958 model. So much cosmoline. Mineral Spirits aka Lighter Fluid nylon brush tackless microfiber and a gun mat and a plastic dish and CLEAN OVER CONCRETE TO STAY GROUNDED so you don't create static cleaning mineral spirit IS flammable in this is MY PREFERRED METHOD please do so at your own risk

Hi there, Matt. This isn't related to this video. But I just needed a hand. One of Yankee's mods blocked me from commenting on his videos/chats. I've heard him say I can message him directly to have that reversed. But I'm having trouble finding where to do that. Any chance you've got a link I can use?

bayonet had no rust...no shit, Sherlock, its made out of aluminum. Also in a restoration video you show HOW you restored the gun, how did you do the "torching" effect for example.
