Hey guys!
Today I'm following up on the Skullcandy Indy Evo. I bought these for $79.99 before they went on sale prior to black Friday to do a quick review for a viewer to give my initial impressions. In that video I had given these an A, especially considering that they were on sale for $39.99 ($37.99 at Target with Red Card).
Now that I've had some time to use these in real world scenarios I'm ready to finalize my grade for these. I'm glad to say that these are still a great buy and I'm sticking to my "A" grade from the previous video. Sound is great, the features are great and the mic is decent enough. These are shaped like Airpods, but I think they are more on par with the Galaxy Buds because they seal your ear and have similar features like the ambient mode. If you're comparing these to Airpods, the sound is much better because you get great noise isolation which is missing from the Airpods but the mic isn't as good.. On the other hand, if you're comparing it to the Galaxy Buds, you'll find that these have a similar sound that is on par and the mic is slightly better. However, these do lack the integration that Apple has with Airpods and that the Galaxy buds are able to provide on both Android and Apple. Despite this disadvantage, Skullcandy does their best to provide similar features including a find my buds feature with Tile integration. I think the only thing that bugs me is that they lack wireless charging (like the Airpods, but at least you can buy a charging case).
So what does all of that mean? It means that these are a great value. While these are missing some of the features that you might find on Galaxy Buds or Airpods, these have most of the features that people look for. And if you do want wireless charging, you can upgrade to the Indy Fuel. Those are nearly identical but includes wireless charging.
