So Satellite Television became Sky Television on 9th of February 1989? Its really sad to see how Sky Channel which turned out to become a European channel, closed its doors to most of Europe from September 1993. Also all the good work with Sky Traxx etc just become nonesense after 9th of Februrary 1989. I just cant believe in that Murdoch started up Sky Channel in 1984. Because the channel got the bigger series and shows first in 1987/1988. This is a mystery for me, even if wikipedia and all writes about Murdochs taking over. With over 4 million viewers in June 1988.. the channel should've have enough income! Murdoch did something nasty.. I am sure of it... ohh.. I am so grrr at this man.. Sky Channel was a fantastic product! It united Europe....

The reason Sky closed across Europe is that the UK voted to leave the EU, I think the issue had to do with the licence conditions on some of there programmes

@@1697djh SKY closed European network in early 90's. Not in 2020 :). And now, SKY is the biggest PAY TV NETWORK in europe (UK, Germany, Italy,...). Even if, for sure, SKY CHANNEL was GREAT!

Hmm.. Here it seems like Satellite Television is still them, before Murdoch took over? Just look at all of the the newspapers from Scandinavia etc. This must be a very early Sky Channel intro! Amazing!

Hi Christopher, I used to like Sky Channel from 1984 to 1989, it was something different, (a Pan European Channel), but on a limited budget, with mostly old U.S. programmes. I don't know if such a channel would work today. Thanks.
