Here's a bit of a rarity, some Sky Movies Plus continuity and adverts, mostly taken from the ad breaks during "Genesis: We Can't Dance" (filmed three days earlier at Knebworth Festival, but while the show went out perfect on BBC Radio 1, the television audience wasn't so lucky with seriously phased audio and poor video quality - check other KZitem videos to see that it's not just my copy). The Sky Movies Plus broadcasts were sponsored by Labatts Canadian Lager.
Ad Break 1:
Polo Genesis (Volkswagen also sponsored Genesis' "We Can't Dance" tour)
TSB
Indesit
Lilt
"Blame It On The Boogie" compilation
Ad Break 2:
Swinton Insurance
Labatts ("Mountain Rescue" ad)
Currys
7up (apologies for the poor picture quality, it was this bad on the tape back in 1992!)
Ad Break 3:
Rover Metro
Farley's baby foods
"Blame It On The Boogie" compilation (same as Ad Break 1)
Colgate Plax mouthwash
Currys (same as Ad Break 2)
Labatts ("Avalanche Rescue")
Then there's a menu for Friday night's films on Sky Movies Plus and The Movie Channel.
And there's a trailer for a movie on Saturday night - the 1988 drama "Clean And Sober" with Michael Keaton. This is followed by a full-length promo and ident for the channel, using clips from movies currently in rotation on the channel, and trailers for the US crime drama "Booker" on Sky One, the 1990 comedy "Air America" on Sky Movies Plus with Mel Gibson and Robert Downey Jr., the British television premiere of the 1989 horror film "Puppet Master" on The Movie Channel.
This is followed by a trailer for the 1990 horror film "Child's Play 2" to be shown on the channel from September, and another montage of current films shown on the channel set to "That's The Way (I Like It)" by KC & The Sunshine Band.
Then there's a quick plug from Manchester City defender Ian Brightwell promoting the start of the FA Premier League, which would have live coverage exclusively on Sky Sports (which at the time this was broadcast was a free-to-air channel, but on 1st September 1992 Sky Sports became a subscription channel)
Following that is a trailer for "The First Power", a 1990 horror film with elements of film noir. Then there's a promo for "Entertainment Tonight" hosted Mary Hart and John Tesh, shown every Tuesday to Saturday on the channel. And then there's a trailer for "Wheels of Terror", a 1990 TV movie with Joanna Cassidy (Dolores in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit"), to be broadcast on The Movie Channel.
And then (I know, it's getting old, but there's a shitload of stuff in this video, so please bear with me), there's another Coming Soon trailer for "Kill Me Again", a 1989 neo-noir thriller starring Val Kilmer, his then-wife Joanne Whalley and Michael Madsen. Then there's a short promo for "US Top Ten", a chart show with, well do I really need to insult your intelligence of what it's about?
Ad Break 4:
Martini Extra Dry
Barbara Dickson's album "Don't Think Twice It's Alright" (comprising of Bob Dylan songs)
Oxy 10
"Lethal Weapon 3"
One more trailer, this time for "Fear", the 1990 horror-thriller starring Brat Packer Ally Sheedy.
Finally it's into the Sky Movies BSB ident (the announcer still says "Sky Movies Plus") to take us into Clive Barker's 1990 horror film "Nightbreed", complete with BBFC certificate, J&M Entertainment and Morgan Creek logos.
Wow, that's a lot to fit in over 25 minutes! Thanks to whoever recorded this (a friend of an uncle I believe), craydee1975 for providing the correct broadcast date, and last but not least to @GinolasSon for the use of his VCR.
