Great video! I remember my very first ride on Skybus: a disruption made us detour half(ish) the freeway's length, until being able to jump in again. Because of that, the ride ended up taking more than the advertised 20 minutes. Other rides were pretty smooth though, and on time.

@@tressteleg1 I'm a tight A** so every time I visit Melbourne I always get the 901 bus (If no one can pick me up) to Broadmeadows then get the train to Nth Melb. My parents live in Footscray so it's not that much of a journey from the airport. On my last trip in April 21 my partner and I caught the skybus as we were heading to Echuca for a few days and only had 1 hour before the train left. The next train was at around 6 pm which got to Echuca at around 9 pm. We got up really early that day to get the train to Gold Coast from Brisbane and didn't want to get to our hotel too late.

I can relate to your frugal lifestyle but there comes a time when time means money. My two weeks in Melbourne are usually quite full so an extra hour to get to the city is one less hour for what I go there for. Going home, the last thing I want to do is miss the plane so mucking around with trains, trams and buses is not good for the nerves!

@@tressteleg1 I always check the PT times before booking for flights. I usually arrive at the airport between 120 - 90 mins before my flight and usually get an afternoon flight. If flying to Brisbane which doesn't happen much as usually Gold Coast is cheaper even after adding the $7 translink fare. My next planned trip to Melbourne is Anzac Day week to see my Bombers take on the Pies. Just waiting for the AFL to release the fixture and hoping my Suns also play in Melbourne that week.

On a social trip, time is not so important. For me, catching up with the Tramway and getting more Videos are the main targets, so time is more valuable. When heading south, I walk to the Gold Coast tram, catch the bus from Broadbeach South and arrive at the GC airport about an hour early. Train would probably get me further quicker, but if anything happens on the railways, I could be trapped on the train for ages and miss the flight. If anything goes wrong on the tram or bus, getting off and finding alternative transport should be much easier. Going home, I use the train if it works out faster.
