After several years in the planning, Skyline Rotorua is upgrading one of its world-famous Luge tracks as part of the ongoing evolution of the Luge experience at Skyline Rotorua.
The modifications will include the addition of nearly 600 metres of new track and incorporate innovations and advancements from many of Skyline’s offshore Luge sites. These include 360-degree corkscrews, longer tunnels, and the introduction of multiple pathways to the bottom of the track, making the fun last longer.
The upgrade, which started this year, is planned to be completed for the start of next summer. Giving kiwis, young and old, another reason to visit Skyline Rotorua and do something new!
The project, which had been planned for last year and put on hold due to CV-19, only affects one of the three Luge tracks on the site. This means there will be little disruption to normal operations with plenty of fun to be had on the other two tracks while the work is carried out.
The involvement of local iwi through the planning for this upgrade has been important in the continued guardianship of the land Skyline Rotorua occupies on the side of Mt Ngongotaha. Skyline is very grateful for the engagement and support of Ngati Whakaue and other local iwi.
Additionally, we're excited to be utilising local contractors and suppliers to carry out the majority of work.
