Hey guys! I hope you guys took the time to watch through the whole video, because some of my answers are pretty darn important towards the end of it. I hope I wasn't too brutally honest with some answers, but my goal is to be transparent with my feelings and where my head is at in terms of content creation. Oh and before people point out the fact that my costume's handkerchief doesn't match my avatar, that's the default color used on Heat of Winter. My avatar just has a differently colored one.

Congrats on 200K! I hope that over time you're able to unshackle yourself from the "TF2 KZitemr" label in time. There's a style to your content that I think could apply really well to all kinds of topics and games. Hell you could probably make a quality series out of "proper" reviews given the depth you tend to go into on your video essays. I'll admit I came for the TF2, but I'm still here for the content regardless of game.

Congrats on the 200k! Not gonna lie, I haven't touched TF2 in a long time, but channels like yours always bring back some good memories. As for the problem of algorithms, I've heard that having a separate channel helps spreading videos on different topics. Because apparently the algorithm flagges channels with keywords and if the video isn't related to that keyword, the algorithm won't care. Maybe worth a try. I wish you best of luck in diversifying :)

I have been part of the TF2 community since 2018. I started playing in 2016 but didn't really get into it until 2018, so my entire TF2 experience has been in the age of Valve neglect. It is always interesting to see veterans talk about how they don't like the state the game is in. I'm sorry you encountered toxic people in the community, but from my experience, 80% of TF2 players I've come across are meme-loving, silly, and great people. There are only a few groups that stand out, some of them even committed actual crimes and have powers in community hubs, but those are blown out of proportion because of the negativity bias. Also, I can understand how it would suck to be labeled as a TF2 KZitemr, but there isn't much that can be done about it since people just love Team Fortress 2 and love watching videos about it. If I were you, I would take the break you need and make videos about the things you like even if most people don't like them as much, and you can return to Team Fortress 2 whenever you feel motivated to. Quality > Quantity, and you can't have quality if you don't enjoy what you do.

Hey Skymin, thanks for sharing this type of video, it's very interesting seeing a retrospective from a content creator, specially when your experience involved a determined source of said content. As many of your subscribers i came here for your TF2 videos which as you said, were pushed by the algorithm, and i can totally see specially after years of burnout from the comunity of that game, that i've always been intretested as an outsider or a spectator, that it's easy to run out of things to say. I played league of leyends for 7 years and totally understand what is like to deal with a toxic comunity, even tho you and other youtubers where the one who made (on diferent views) a job or a side thing to do. Your genshin video made me realize that i too had prejudices even after playing since launch, and i found it so refreshing and positive that actually made me enjoy it even more, so thank you for that. I honestly haven't watched all your videos, and even if im nitpicky with the content i watch, understanding your point of view and how it affect a content creator dealing with such hard expectations and burnout, i want to support your channel, specially as someone who a viewer can tell from miles that actually puts effort in it's content. Even if it's about game i've never heard or series, cartoons, etc. i think it's important to demonstrate as viewers who deserve the attention, revenue and support. Keep those videos coming, enjoy it as much as you can and have a better than expected 2021 ^_^

Considering every TF2 youtuber seems to be facing the same exact problem, I would advise to try and not focus on the part of the community that keeps demanding content for a game that even the dev team has given up on. I personally think that it is a loud minority, but combined with KZitem's tendency to link people keywords they tend to click on (TF2 in this case) and the other random people who stumble across your TF2 content and ask for more, it may seem like it is the majority that is demanding the content. In my experience, people tend to find youtubers through games they know, but then stick around if they enjoy the style of the content creator. So if the viewers aren't translating over to your other content, there is no way to keep them there. Unless you engage in KZitem algorithm abusing tomfoolery, the only thing you can do is keep doing what you enjoy and hope to carve a niche that will enjoy watching the said content. And if you dread making the content, you are better off doing any other job as KZitem isn't paying well anyway (though as someone who really struggled to find a job post internship myself, I do not envy your position). I really enjoy your well structured and informative videos, so I hope you stick around to make more, but only if it's fulfilling to do so.

the first video I saw of yours was the borderlands one where tiny Tina was loved and what's her face wasn't. I didn't play any DLC for it so I didn't even know the bunkers and badasses was just tina's way of coping with Roland's death.

Sorry if im wrong: but i get the feeling youre conflating a lot of things into one (tf2 in this case)- from the pressure/''haunt'' of making content for it, to the being disapointed with the state its in, to the the bad eggs you remenber, etc etc... and i feel thats letting it color your views on the game and your channel, uncessarily. Dont pressure yourself. Do something on tf2 even if small just for that youtube push if/as needed. Dont fear trying different styles of video and content- and heck, dont fear falling in love with another game... nor talking about what you love of tf2 (in this case the characters more then anything). Just toss the pressure and bad vibes away, and focus on the positive. Im an oc player (release day) that has been away from tf2 for multiple times, many years at a time- and once again im back at it. Things like bots and the toxic players here and there are a thing, but the moment i just stopped caring and focusing on the good... ive been having a blast. 9/10 matches i have some fun interactions with nice people(yes, really)- and i mean totally random people on pubs (i dont have many friends on gaming :p) And i noticed my enjoyment of the game somehow improved; I still have fond memories of simpler times (for a good while i hated the hats and how it messed up the original vision) and such, but i was younger and got angrier more easily- be it from toxicity or loosing or whatever, to the point i barely tried to play the classes i was worse at... ...and turns out, maybe because i got older, i just started enjoying the game more for what it is; Non pressure, just fun, still the most unique full of heart and soul fps multiplayer game out there, full stop. Still with some of the most amazing emergent gameplay, and even random crazy stuff or just random friendlies... just today out of nowehere i saw while waiting to respawn a spy on my team trying to taunt kill a scout who dodged him, but then the scout talked funny with voice controls while circling him and purposefully stopped in front of the last stab to taunt die for him (non friends, completely random people). Also today 2 players complainging about lack of matchmaking on casual (newbies with experienced people) led to some nice conversation across 2 matches and before i knew it i was half coaching someone on playing heavy (and i suck at heavy) Also, strangely enough, i somehow got better on tf2 just now. Ive been sucking on fps games for a long time, mainly my aim always sucked (reason why i love options like demoman in games where i dont have to precise aim). What makes it even more strange is that i was much better at older arcade shooters (unreal/quake), probably because i was good at quick positioning- but that on the other hand got worse (also age i guess)... so i feel my aim is a bit worse now that i reached 30, but for some reason i got better at tf2...? I started wondering... ...until i realized all that really changed, on my part, was my mindset; Now im always playing calm. always playing for fun. Always not caring if i win or loose or if i took a random crit or if theres a bot/cheater- at the same time i do try to improve here and there, and this made me explore other classes, and i just discovered i actually really enjoy playing spy, have not sucked at medic and im feeling i will give scout another go... All because my mindset changed. So idk- no pressure, but any of these days just jump in to kill time without any expectations, turn on the ''dont care mode'' have some fun around and if a match turns unplayable (bots) just leave that one and queue another (or go community server). Ps: this week ive played around as ''cloroquine'' (a fake remedy for covid the dumb president of my country tried to push), playing as a medic that never cured anyone. Unsurprisingly i quickly received some angry comments... but surprisingly the moment i said ''cloroquine doesnt cure'' and they got it the mood completely shifted and more then once people were ubering my battle medic just so cloroquine would win, or helping me defeat other players with similar names (ive been finding a bunch of vacine names, presidents, etc)... ...my point is: even when things are toxic more often then not is just people not really angry but perpetuating the dumb culture- and bringing foward good vibes and fun, well, yelds back good vibes too. Go figure.
