Still waiting for my Skypad, re: value for money - I would say it's probably not worth buying at full price but on sale it definitely makes sense for someone like me that uses the same peripherals for a long time until they wear out. I've been curious about these since the first version but I was still happy with my zowie GTFX (which I loved), now that it's wearing out in the middle and cleaning it isn't bringing back that like-new feel the idea of paying 60-70eur for a pad that just won't noticeably wear seems like the perfect replacement

I think the days of buyi g glass pads for over 100$ is coming to an end. The majority of pads released in 2023 were 50-70$ and i think SkyPAD had to change their prices to remain competitive, whoch is great if you ask me 😁 I hope you enjoy the SkyPAD when it arrives. You may want to consider picking up some SkyPAD Obsidian Pro dots if you struggle with the speed and 'wriggliness' of it

I went from a Hein to a Skypad 3.0 when the Kickstarter happened about a year ago. I really love the way the Skypad gives me instant flicks but there was a large transition period for me where I was over flicking everything for about a month and needed to lower my sens a few times with my PMM mouse. I love the feeling in arcade shooters but recently I've been on a valorant binge and am wanting to try something with slightly more friction. I'm thinking about giving the Cerapad Kin a try as I've heard its the best control option for glass pads. I don't think i'll ever go back to a soft pad though. Like you said any cloth pad feels like I'm dragging my mouse through mud.

Hey Simon, thanls for the kind words 🫡 since this video i have raised my sensitivity to around 42cm (in Apex its 0.6 @1600 dpi). I find a slightly slower sens works for me in terms of consistency. Do you give any weight to the fact that when you buy a new pad, mouse or any other peripheral, you innately want to confirm/validate your purchase and decision making process that led to it? I say this not in a judgemental way but just curious as I see myself as someone who appreciates and tries to remove bias/emotion from my opinion of products I buy.. but inevitably it will always creep in to some extent. An example would be, you buy a new mouse, and you essentially focus more or try harder because you not only want to validate the investment but it has fundamentally changed something about your routine. You almost become in a day-dream while gaming and changes in your configuration of the game or peripherals can kind of make you focus up?
@LogPile444
Жыл бұрын
Hey Dotfrag, I can relate to this for sure. I try to give all the information possible in my reviews, both good and bad and hope that will allow my viewers and community to make some form of informed decision on the product for themselves. I typically buy products for a couple of reasons - either its cool or innovative and I want to see what it offers, or my current equipment is so bad I need a replacement. I'm actually relatively new to PC gaming, I played MMORPGs in my teens, and took about a 10 year break in gaming, when Covid pandemic hit i started playing on the Nintendo Switch, and then a year later (18-24 months ago) I switched to PC gaming. So genuinely, alot of my experiences I'm sharing on my channel are first time experiences with different products and product types - and I'm capturing all my observations because I think its valuable to others in a similar position. BUT i do accept your point about bias. I try very hard for this not to influence me too much in my content though. I hope that answers your question somewhat?
@dotfrag
Жыл бұрын
@@LogPile444 Oh absolutely, I was not trying to imply you were any more biased than anyone else by the way. Just that when we buy anything, we can skew data in favour of the thing we buy without even thinking. "It makes my life so much easier/better/faster!" I've had a few peripherals that in hindsight, I thought were THE endgame when I bought them and after the rose tinted glasses came off, I went back to what was tried and true! I'm having a bit of that I think with the ultralight phase, I have a HSK Pro 4k aswell and for all my quick flicks etc can sell the impression that it's 100% better, my consistency in other respects can go down. Sometimes a more grounded mouse with a larger footprint can make my crosshair placement and horizontal movements more consistent, albeit not as explosively accurate.
@LogPile444
Жыл бұрын
@dotfrag I think thats a fair observation, of how our perception of products change as we get past the honeymoon phase. I have stuck it out with the HSK Pro since it arrived, and while I know its not perfect (I have a script in draft to offer improvements for the next version) I still prefer the immersion I get from small form mice vs traditional shapes and sizes. I understand that I'm answering in a blinkered approach, and that maybe my view on hard pads will change over time, but I really like them 2 months in - and the most important thing to remember with all these products is it's like choosing colours, everyones colour preference will be slightly different - I think hard pads and light mice offer great immersion which is what i value at the moment. I am not sure if I'm answering fully, but i appreciate your comments its been very thought provoking.

@LogPile444
Жыл бұрын
I think I failed to answer 2 of your Qs. Q1. Wanting to confirm or validate purchases? A1. Yes I think this is true with everything in life 😅 in the context of gaming, I tend to be drawn to niche or specialist items that I knoe before I buy, are a huge risk. So I tend to just suck up the investment (I'm fortunate to be financially stable enough to do this) and take it for what it is when it arrives. While I do try to justify purchases in some cases, most of the time I tend to just play around with my curiosity and accept sometimes the purchase won't be a good one. Q2. Do changes to config make you focus up? A2. Yes in my experience it does, if I'm trying an entirely new product/experience I'll give myself enough time with the product to get through the change adjustment phase in order to pass a fair judgement. I hope I've answered everything, if not, fire back 🫡 I love the name btw, very cool.

The scratchiness of the pad either goes away or you get used to it as well, I am unsure. I have spilt Pepsi on the pad 2 times and all it took was a couple wipes with paper towels and it was clean.
