@@Joov I am glad you enjoyed the chaos it added. :) I really liked your message about just making a mod, by the way. With how accessible the modding tools are for Bethesda games, it doesn't have to be a huge commitment to just sit down and make something. As you said: even if it's bad or nonsensical, it's a good learning opportunity. The first mod I ever made was called Ugly Bastards. It no longer exists on the Nexus because I deleted it a long while ago for reasons I cannot wholly recall (I still have the original file on an external harddrive, though). It was just a goofy little experiment wherein I opened the Creation Kit and grotesquely altered the faces of NPCs I did not like. It was nonsensical and not very well put together, but it's what kindled my interest in learning more about the Creation Kit, which then sparked my interest in game design, then writing scripts, then programming. Needless to say, the message resonated with me; I'd say I'm better off for having learned what I learned by making mods. :)

This argument has never made sense to me, because it's essentially not true at all. It doesn't install things to the game folder. It installs it to a different folder, then copies it to the game folder when you enable it. If you disable it, it just removes it again. It also has profiles, so it's incredibly easy to switch between mod lists or just revert back to a fully vanilla game.

Tip to people - if you don't use a mod manager that can create a merged patch, and just use Steam mods or Vortex directly, then you will have mods overwriting each others content, resulting in missing content and parts of mods, or entire mods, not working, and crashes of course.

Dear joov i had an idea for a really dumb challenge. Beating bleak falls barrow, but everytime you take damage you have to go get a certain item and can't go back until you get it. So you have a bandit 90% dead, but he gets an arrow in you, you gotta turn around and go find *Blank* It could be a fork but it has to be one that does damage, it could be Mehrunes Razor, it could be meridia's beacon, a spell tome, who knows? Maybe let chat vote on a random few items you have written down.

Hey Joov. Saw someone else trying a restricted playthrough of survival Fallout 4. Only instead of being locked to one area or the road. They were locked to the water. Meaning only being able to travel via the rivers/oceans. Also only being able to savaging from stuff build in or under the water. Meaning places like Libertalia, boats or bridges fallen into the water were fine. Alongside the many oddities that can be found jutting out of the ocean. I know someone else has done it, but it didn't have that Joov flair. So I hope you'll consider trying it.

Mod Organizer 2 (MO2) and Vortex (formerly known as Nexus Mod Manager or NMM) are both popular mod managers for Bethesda games, but MO2 is often preferred for several reasons: Virtual File System (VFS): MO2 uses a virtual file system that keeps your game directory clean. It installs mods into a separate folder structure rather than directly into the game directory. This prevents mods from overwriting each other and makes it easier to manage conflicts. Vortex, on the other hand, installs mods directly into the game directory, which can lead to messy installations and potential conflicts. Mod Isolation: MO2 maintains mod isolation by keeping each mod's files separate. This means mods do not interfere with each other's files, reducing conflicts and making it easier to uninstall or update mods without affecting others. Vortex lacks this level of isolation, which can make managing complex mod setups more challenging. Profile Management: MO2 supports multiple profiles, allowing users to create different mod setups for different playthroughs or game versions. Each profile can have its own set of activated mods and settings, providing flexibility without affecting the main game installation. Vortex also supports profiles but may not offer the same level of control and ease of use as MO2. Dependency Handling: MO2 has robust dependency management, ensuring that mods requiring specific assets or other mods are correctly installed and loaded. It helps users manage mod dependencies and ensures mods function as intended. Vortex has improved its dependency handling over time but may not offer the same granularity and reliability as MO2. Conflict Resolution: When conflicts between mods arise (e.g., two mods modifying the same file), MO2 provides tools to manage conflicts effectively. Users can prioritize which mod's changes should take precedence or merge conflicting changes. This helps maintain a stable modded game experience. Vortex also handles conflicts but may not offer the same level of detail or user control as MO2. User Interface: MO2 is praised for its intuitive and user-friendly interface. It provides detailed information about each mod, including conflicts and dependencies, making it easier for users to manage their mods effectively. Vortex has improved its UI over time but may still be perceived as less intuitive or user-friendly compared to MO2. Active Development and Community Support: MO2 benefits from an active development community and regular updates. This ensures compatibility with the latest game updates and modding tools, as well as ongoing improvements in functionality and performance. Vortex also receives updates and community support but may not evolve at the same pace or have as extensive a community as MO2. Overall, while both MO2 and Vortex are capable mod managers, MO2's virtual file system, mod isolation, profile management, and robust conflict resolution tools make it a preferred choice for many modders who prioritize a clean, organized, and stable modding experience for Bethesda games.
