Legends tell of a meeting between Sheogorath, the Mad God, and Mehrunes the Razor. The Mad God asked him, "from where do you come? I remember that you were birthed in the bowels of another place, yet try as I might, I cannot recall its name." "Lyg," the Prince replied, before realizing his mistake. "Lyg my balls," the Mad One uttered with a cackle, as the Prince of Destruction knelt and wept bitter tears. The Sovereign of the Shivering Isles had deceived him yet again.

The Khajiits were created by Azura, and Azura collaborated with Shor to mortalise the Anuic Et’Ada like Auriel and Magnus inside Mundus. Shor focused his attention on Auriel, while his sister fought Magnus in the outskirts of Mundus, ripping his eye out and throwing it to Nirn, though both Magnus and later Auriel were able to escape, while Azura fled to Oblivion, and Shor was killed by Auriel’s son Trinimac on Nirn. And we know this because the current and past generations of the Aldmer regard Auriel as their first ancestor, and Trinimac as their second greatest. Mehrunes Dagon is one of the most interesting Daedric princes in my opinion . On the surface level he may seem like this stereotypical devil like figure but he’s so much more than that. He is ambition manifest. Revolution and change. These are fundamental aspects of society. If nothing ever changed there would be no forward progress and that’s why his influence is so important. The only thing that stays the same is change. Not just in the Elder Scrolls but in our real world as well. If Dagon was real, our world would be absolutely drenched with his influence across all of history. That’s what makes him so interesting to me. You should have started with your definition of "evil." "Profoundly immoral/wicked" is one such definition. I would argue that Dagon *is* a force of nature and change and a necessary part of the Mundas and mortal life on Nirn. However, insofar as Aedric beliefs, western beliefs and majority of inhabitants of Nirn we interact with, Dagon *is* immoral. He has no regard for the life or the beauty. His apathy, which you argue is his saving grace, is actually the reason he *is* evil. He will kill tyrants and topple regimes....but he will also kill a farmer caught in the way, a child who has done no crimes, and it won't stop him from his goal. That apathy, that immorality, is why he is one of the evil daedric prince's, and indeed why they are considered the evil beings of the Aubis.

Before creation must come destruction, you can look at the changes between oblivion and Skyrim to see that. All of it brought about by Dagon, he lost the battle but he definitely won the war

Creative destruction is a beautiful concept. There are a lot of parallels with Shiva, but you also see this in modern economic theory.

i finally have a few home brew daedric princes written out, it took me forever lol, but i was just trying to be original. So far my favorite is still unnamed, but she is the daedric prince of spite and preservation, and her realm of oblivion is said to be a beautiful alternative to any mortal kind’s afterlife, it is said to be a garden of eden, lush and never ending, full of color, love, and life. Her creatures are some kind of bug, i’m not sure exactly what yet but i like the idea of daedric honeybees bc of real life pollination, and they pollinate weak mortal minds that are vulnerable to influence and anxiety about their loved ones leaving them, ultimately causing them to ritually murder or “sacrifice” their loved one with what i would call a assassin’s creed type hidden knife but made of a daedric tree’s root, that manifests as her bees pollinate the mind of the “worshipper”. the bees promise eternity with those they sacrifice, as well as never having to worry about losing the love they have, and the ultimate act to please this prince is ritual sacrifice and suicide, basically a murder suicide in the name of the prince. But the truth is that when done, they are trapped in some sort of flower with their loved one, a fusion of both soul and consciousness, where they can’t move or think at all, almost like the ritual soul traps the victims, but instead of the soul cairn they are sent into a soul gem daedric flower in this garden of beautiful nightmares. The prince knows all too well that she isn’t well known or widely worshipped anymore, and she knows her power comes from recognition and worship, so she traps mortals in her garden for eternity, promising the rose petals of love for eternity, only to sink the thorns of truth in, when the victims cease to be anything but a decorative battery for the prince. That’s right, the whole oblivion realm is populated with victims from current to a millennia ago. The only thing there that is of the prince’s own creation, is her “mother tree”, the source of her power where she stores the sap of mortal spite and she uses it to create her daedric bee’s, sending more and more out to add to her collection. She is the prince of weak minds in a way, convincing mortals to act in her benefit with a lie, until it completely infests their soul sprouting the murder weapon straight from a wooden thorn out of their wrist. There is no denying this outcome, those infested have been observed, and chosen carefully, so the prince has a 100% success rate. She is the prince of spite, or the preservation of “love for eternity”, or at least that is what they believe when they commit the ritual murder suicide, when in reality she uses mortal’s weak minds to create batteries of power that adds to her pool of power, through acts of spite. let me know what y’all think, i know that’s a long read, and i might not have conveyed my ideas the best, but it would be so cool to hear some feedback, or some of your own ideas! another great video Drew! keep up the good work! much love!

Awesome video, but I wonder why you didn’t talk about the tale of the Demon Leaper King being transformed into Dagon by Alduin. I’d really like to know your thoughts on how that relates to the tale told here.

I always saw the Daedric Princes as embodiments of concepts. Dagon is ambition in physical form, Molaq Bal embodies cruelty and domination, Shaeogorath embodied chaos and whim. We may view these concepts as "evil", but they are also necessary facets of life. It would be like calling a tsunami evil. Sure I don't like what the tsunami has done, but the tsunami only did what tsunamis do. Same with Dagon. Sure his invasion in Oblivion was "evil", but only cause we viewed it as such. For Dagon, he was only doing what he always does, trying to see his ambitions through.

Your thumbnails are good so I’m surprised these don’t get more views, maybe the lore topics you usually do are too obscure or not something that most people are deeply curious about, Shit I almost didn’t click this vid since the answer to the title seems obvious, but I needed to know if dagon was really so different to what I thought he was

No one could’ve described our lord better. Humans only see the world as they see fit for their controversial existence. They aren’t opened to change, to revolution, unless a tragic event bonds them all together. So be it, we must bring destruction to the order of men and mer and from their ashes a new world will be born again. All hail Lord Dagon!!

After playing the Eldar Scrolls since the 90s and absorbing the lore I do believe Dagon is evil. Yet at the same time he can be fair minded and darkly honourable. He is also intelligent and knows exactly what he's doing. But I can judge him as the mortal I am and say he is evil... Still my favourite prince
