Khajiit is the same as our "feline" denomination they are monstrously diverse in the lore, and very far apart (because the moons, it seems, have nothing to do except mutating cats to see what happens) sometimes we only think of th Cathay species (Skyrim skooma-craving polite Khajiits) but there are many more including but not limited to: -Ohmes Khajiits, the Daggerfall ones, Ohmes means "Man-faced", they look like elves, so much so that they paint their faces to tell them apart from bosmers, so as to avoid being called a cannibal tree-hugger by mistake. -Alfiq Khajiits, a litteral cat given sentience, high intellect and wisdom and speech. because the moon was bored that day. -Senche, basically, mythological Sphinx but as species. very wise, very smart, and rather rare (born when both moons are full) -Senche-Raht: see above, but a bit smaller, dumber, more full of itself, and stronger. and my favorite Ohmes-Raht: Ohmes-Raht, a very rare species nowadays, but used to be common (imagine like... ancient greece human), only born when Messer (big moon) is new and Secunda (small moon) is waxing. They are human-ish when it comes to features and prowess, a bit taller on average, their body has some manner of fur strewn across its body, their face is quite human-shaped. they usually have feline ears and a tail. if that is familiar, yes indeed, it both is a Catgirl, and fits very well the description of M'rissi. The more you know.

2:38 Talos was only considered a God from Morrowind onwards, while there's no hard evidence as to why, there is one incredibly complicated theory that states that Talos only became a God by the ending of TES 2 Daggerfall, in case you're unaware, Daggerfall is the only game in the series with multiple endings, however there needed to be one canonical ending to the game, the problem is that each of the game's endings contradicted one another, so to solve this issue the canonical ending of Daggerfall became The Warp in the West, an ending that isn't actually available ingame, however it perfectly solves the issue of each ending contradicting one another, this ending explains that when the Numidium is activated by the end of Daggerfall a Dragon Break occurs, Dragon Break's are very complicated and I can't explain what they are very well, but the gist is that because a Dragon Break occurred that means every ending of Daggerfall is now canon Now back to the theory on why Talos became a God by the ending of Daggerfall, the theory states that Talos is actually 3 different people, all of whom are possibly a Shezarrine (An incarnation of Lorkhan), I can't exactly explain the theory very well, but evidence for this theory exists in one of the Endings of Daggerfall, where one of the individuals the theory states to have become Talos, Zurin Arctus/The Underking obtains the Mantella and control over the Numidium

Hey! Loved the video! As someone who also went from Skyrim to Daggerfall, I felt all of your pain. One thing about that letter quest that you took, they don't explain it overly well, but what you have to do to complete the quest "properly" is to take ONLY the letter from the pile (there seemed to be a necklace on the ground that you took as well, unfortunately doing so fails the quest and tanks your reputation in the region), and place the fake letter down where you took the old letter. Yeah, it's weirdly complex and unlike in Skyrim, Daggerfall is absolutely okay with giving you jobs that you can mess up. Another thing is that, if you do not complete quests within the time limit, you fail it automatically as well. And, a note on the Khajiit that don't really look like Khajiit: they actually are, albeit a different breed. From playing Oblivion or Skyrim, we might be led to believe that there is only 1 Khajiit, the furry, cat-faced people, and are basically all like argonians are, but saying Khajiit is kind of like saying Mer: there are Bosmer, Altmer, Dwemer, Falmer, and several more, all unique in their own rights. In Skyrim, the variant of Khajiit that we see is the Cathay, and in Morrowind, it is the Suthay-Raht, which look more or less like Skyrim's, but with cat feet, not human feet. The variant in Daggerfall is called Ohmes-Raht, which, as per the lore, are described as looking like Wood Elves, but a bit taller, possessing tails, and a light, thin sheet of golden fur (you can actually see it through the shirt your character was wearing, on his sides. The type in Arena, the very first Elder Scrolls game, is even less cat-like, the Ohmes, which look pretty much identical to Wood Elves, the only notable difference being that they tend to put on cat-like war paint on their faces to distinguish themselves. On the opposite spectrum is the Senche and Senche-Raht, portrayed in Elder Scrolls Online, which are literally tigers and elephant-sized tigers, walking on four legs and all, respectively, but they are just as intelligent as their two-legged brethren. Unlike the Elves, however, the Khajiit breeds are not separate, but one race, that is formed as they are born depending on the phases of the two moons of Nirn. Yeah, Elder Scrolls lore can be... very peculiar, sometimes. Anyways, this was enjoyable, I hope that you do more content for this game, it really is a gem!

That's not even remotely true. Older versions of MSFS had exactly the same world size as the modern version (that being the size of, well, the world). Orbiter (a space flight simulator first released in 2000) has the entire Solar system. Kerbal Space Program likewise has an entire planetary system. Minecraft of course has a huge world, along with No Man's Sky, Elite Dangerous (and possibly earlier Elite installments, I don't remember), and there was a little-known game around 2000 called Noctis which had an entire procedurally generated galaxy, with planets you could walk on and explore. SpaceEngine arguably doesn't count as a game, but if you want to count it then add it to the list, it's a 1:1 scale recreation of the entire universe, with the earliest public version released in 2010. And so on. Daggerfall did have an amazingly huge map, but to say that it was the largest until 2020 is just false.

It's kind of obvious. The first elder scrolls I played was Oblivion. The Skyrim. After that oblivion again and there I was playing Morrowind. I had to try daggerfall. It's kind of fun but buggy and clunky. Still would play

The key to this game is climbing. Getting your ass kicked in a dungeon? Grab the wall and escape. Getting chased by guards? Hug the masonry and off to the roofs. Can't enter the city? Over the walls you go. Also get a ship. Get caught burglarizing? Just teleport to your ship somehow. The hows and whys of being able to access it everywhere are for nerds.

Yep, I played this when it was new and fresh. It was no Ultima VII. But it was the first procedurally generated game map I’d seen, which blew me away… until the sameness got to me and I gave up. Playing a khajiit is great. You can climb all sorts of places you’re not supposed to. There’s nothing as nice as stretching out to take an illegal nap on some mansion’s doorless third-story balcony, lulled to sleep by the voices of the guards on the ground yelling, “Halt!”

1. You already got the resting tip to heal 2. select the switch health and fatigue option in the launch menu so the colors make sense 3. Change combat to click to attack so no need to drag mouse - or else reduce the drag sensitivity required to attack 4. remap controls to make modern sense 5.. save tons - get used to that hotkey

I loved this game in the 90s. The world was huge. That map of all of the whole continent at the beginning was all explorable and cities were huge! Not these little two street things we get in Skyrim. I wish they'd rebuild this using modern graphics and game mechanics.

I was 11 when this came out, and even by the standards of 1996 it was an unintuitive mess. But eventually I discovered a cheat, which was using a CAD mouse (stolen from my dad's work) that had buttons for on-the-fly resolution adjustment. So in combat, I'd CRANK the sensitivity and with a little flick the sword would hurl itself everywhere on the screen. Basically an instakill button. Overall: A+ game, best in series.

Skyrim is a very watered down Elder Scrolls game. The issue with Elder Scrolls games these days is that they keep removing the most interesting and freeform parts of the games, such as the customizable spells and enchanting system. Skyrim really simplified those those down (making them feel like every other game where you gain the same power at a particular time that everyone else gets) and there are spells you simply can no longer cast or create at all in Skyrim. I understand they want to improve graphics and AI, but it was at the expense of some of the lore of the Arena Universe.

You took a quest where the NPC specifically said to only replace the letter and not touch any of the target's other belongings. You then proceeded to take a necklace right next to the letter without hesitation, then were confused how you failed the quest.

These games give me such a weird feeling, they released so many games comparatively in the span of 8 years (1994-2002). Each game is so fundamentally different yet you catch glimpses of names and places that feel nearly forgotten. After being so immersed in the modern entries it feels like I'm witnessing events that should only exist in game lore books and wiki pages.

Daggerfall is the adult eagle which pushes its young off a cliff. "Fly, fu**er! The ground comes at you fast!" It is merciless, relentless, & unmatched. It is almost unfair to see a Skyrim player thrown to the wolves of Daggerfall, but it is fun to watch. For anyone who might want to try it, remember it was released in '96. If you played computer games then, it was assumed you were a nerd. The game manual is 80 or so pages and you would do well to download the PDF & read it. Also, customize your class along with your individual advantages & weaknesses.

Explaination flr why the khajiit look so human in daggerfall: Khajiit is an entire species. Just like men and elves. The ones we see in skyrim are called ”cathay” if i’m not mistaken. The ones in daggerfall are called ohmes. They are almost indistinguishable from bosmer (wood elves). My favorite race of khajiit is the alfiq. They look just like house cats but they’re as intelligent as a cathay. And they hate being called housecats.

The tutorial was for the original game. It doesn't quite fit with the Unity version when it comes to controls. There's a Unity option to make your attacks by clicking instead of dragging, which is better since mouselook kinda interferes with it dragging. You'd have had an easier time if you rested to regain hp once in a while.

@iFrenchMinors ? If you don't like Simulation RPG's that's fine. Daggerfall was trying to do something unique and I think it succeeded. It at least stuck with TES+Tamriel lore unlike some other titles. For a game in 1996 I think it did pretty good. If the same passion was put into a project today, it be amazing with all the advancements done in the world of gaming. (maybe The Wayward Realms will be something, successor to DF apparently...)

Daggerfall Unity blessedly has an option in the starting config menu to set sword-swinging to "vanilla" (hold swing your mouse), "hold" (just hold the button to swing randomly), or "click" (what you'd expect of a modern game). Setting it to "click" actually does make the game a lot easier.

John Gilbert (dude who played Uriel Septim VII in the beginning cutscene) was a high regarded stage actor who passed away in 2006. Had to Google it after the question was posed. Had he not passed away, I wonder if he would have been the choice for Oblivion. Tough to say, as Patrick Stewart brought hype to the Oblivion trailer. Either way, RIP John Gilbert.
