Ahhhh sheeeet, first time using any type of tracking mount last week, managed to track and even take a few shots of Orion nebula and andromeda, I noticed when I checked my images that the mount wasn’t tracking as good as it should have been my objects were slowly drifting, even in my 30s exposures you couldn’t see star trails but flicking through the subs you could definitely see it drifting. I bet I didn’t guide properly by tracking my object. Thanks for the tip!

In PHD2 you don’t calibrate where you are imagine but at the meridian and 0 degrees. Otherwise your guiding will be bad.

Hi nice video. I have the skywatcher gti mount, haven’t got a wedge so using Alt mode. It’s a pain to connect by its native WiFi, but gets there in the end. I tried it inside with no scope attached. As I know where Polaris is in relation to my house I thought I’d type than in and see what happens, it correctly goes to 53 degrees BUT is (via my phone compass app) pointing due east??? I manually rotated to North but am not quite sure what I’m doing wrong?? It’s freezing here atm so don’t want to be out in the dark not being able to sort it. It’s probably a straight forward thing am doing wrong. Any advice plz??

Hey, I never use the GTi in Alt AZ mode so my knowledge is very limited, but have you checked witch side of the mount is supposed to face to North? I know thay changed it once.

@TadejSkofic

for good polar alignment, you will need something, but you can start by pointing to Polaris, sadly there is no other accurate way on the GTi , you need something external to help you

Great videos you have here. I'mjust starting with astrophotography and currently thinking of either getting the Skywatcher az gti and do the modification for eq moder or if I get the Skyadventurer Pro EQ Camera racker. I have a very obstructed view to the north. So it's kind a hard to get polaris. That's why I would like to ask you, if it is possible to align the skywatcher az gti in eq mode using only the in app star align? Any help would be nice. Don't want to shell out big bucks and then get the wrong one. I'm very interested in the skywatcher as I'm also planing to later get a newtonian teleskop and than it would double as mount for photography in EQ mode and as visual mount in AZ Mode. I really like your videos, so I subscribe your channel. Looking forward for more stuff from you.

I'm glad to hear you like the videos and thank you for subscribing! To answer your question, I chose to get the SkyWatcher GTi mount because of the go-to function it makes a lot of things simpler because of that. Now I don't have any experience with other mounts but I think polar alignment will be a lot easier with the GTi mount if you can't see Polaris clearly, the star alignment will do quite a good job. But you can always do a drift alignment with PHD2 guiding, so in this case, you really don't need to see Polaris at all. In my mind, the GTi Is simpler to use (finding and framing targets) and you can get great results with this mount. Sometime after the new year, I will do an extensive review of the mount so you might get a few more information then plus I will go over drift alignment in the future videos. Have a great day!

Hi, thx for ur videos, they have been very usefull to start in astrophoto ^^ have u tried conecting the az gti to APT? been trying with no succes... thx again for ur work! very usefull!
@TadejSkofic

I did use it a very short while, but you don't really need to connect APT to your mound since it mainly controls your imaging sequence. I'm guessing you are guiding so you only need to make sure that PHD2 and APT are communicating for diddering between each exposure. So if you have ASCOM drivers installed you shouldn't have problems. Could you explain in a bit more detail what the problem is if you get any error messages and what camera are you using?

Hey, Well if you are just using a lens it's not really necessary but if the lens is very heavy I would recommend you to pun on a counterweight because it will work smoother.

hi. im torn between this goto mount and the basic tracker star adventurer. im after track accuracy using 400mm above focal length and exposure 2 minutes up. how well can this az gti track a deep sky object?
@TadejSkofic
4 жыл бұрын
Hey, well I don't have any experience with other mounts but I was able to get round stars on a 600 sec exposure with a focal length of 1000mm with my AZ-GTi, but I don't recommend you to go this far since on the focal length, because I did had to throw away many images and now I settled on a 500mm telescope and it happens very rarely that I have to throw away images (and sometimes I go for 900 sec exposures) if I do it's mostly because of an airplane flying trough or a satellite. Hope this helps.
