There’s a lot of thought in heritage conservation we should all be mixing hot lime on site to use for repairs. I was just finding what you were saying at the end very interesting as I believe you have other ideas?

@@crisus202025 Thank you. I am hoping another viewer from the USA will know where to get QuickLime in the USA. Hard to find unless you happen to be a steel production or paper production. They don't seem to reply to little squirts like me looking to do exactly what you did. Make a bunch of lime putty.

Hi there: I have a build system called kabook-i which uses bamboo and earth materials to make affordable, ecological houses. I've recently been looking into hempcrete and lime mix to make the walls. In your opinion, would the hempcrete or lime rot / corrode the bamboo thanks - Mike eco1solutions - you can reply through my website -thanks

i think you were very low on sand content in this mix, the sand acts as a heat sink. if you had added sufficient sand, then the' run away' exothermic reaction you observed would not have occurred. allow it to run away like that is very bad for the lime properties, but your video is useful in demonstrating the risks involved of an incorrect mix to novices, so very well done and thank you.

I can see from your comment u have knowledge on the subject. But in this instance he is only slaking lime from fresh quick lime " no sand " in the mix . Sand would be added later to mix a mortar.. dont question the " Master himself.. Gerard is the worlds leading authority on historial brickwork and not just a pen pusher style one.. a hands on master bricklayer who helped rescue gauged brickwork and traditional lime mortars from near extinction through uers of study and application. When this guy talks we all sit up and listen..
