Hey man. I like to use a crampion when repairing fibre cement slates. I cut a strip of a velux soaker nail it to the batten the position the crampion it the correct place and tap the crampion through the strip of soaker holding it place so it doesn't slip. Slide the slate into place bit of silicone and the job is a good one. I use your method on natural slates. More than one way to skin a cat. Nice job 👌
