I’ve just read about the 4 positions but had no idea what each one was - very useful video thanks 👍

Thanks! It appears as though my new 500 EXC-F was delivered in the number two position. I have somewhat long arms for being 6 ft. Standing on pegs feels pretty good. Sould be sure I'm dialed in on bar distance before committing $$ on a Scott's damper system. Thanks for laying this out in such a concise manner (great mock-ups). SUPER informative.

I have always just adjusted my bars directly over the top of the forks, that feels about the best for me.

Thank you so much! Great information! I use #4 because I am 6'7" and everyone tells me I shouldn't do that, but it feels right to me.

It would be nice to give details on the difference in feedback you will have from the front steering as you advance or retreat the position in respect to the turning axis. Because as far as I understand is not just for size of rider that you set up your position, correct?
@slaverace1

Hello: This has no effect on turning axis. It's just about ergonomics.

So in this video, on the newer model triple clamp.. it’s the same right? Closer to you is position 1 and farther away is position 2, correct? My bike came in position 1 from dealer and it was a nightmare to ride. I just couldn’t control the thing. I kept crashing. It’s crazy how such a small adjustment makes such a big difference. I’m about to order the precision racing parabolic dampener off your site. Just want to make sure I get the correct position 😎

You should do a video on actual handlebar position. Once the bar is in, the angle you set it before tightening. Include best practice data on general lever positioning and bar buster positioning over hands.

Regarding the newer triple clamp mounting system, does the handlebar mount come in the number 1 or two position from the factory? Thanks

When you reverse thelower mounts, do you reverse the upper caps, or keep the arrows they have pointing forward?

Does any of those positions make the bike handle differently? I'm an average sized rider on a new beta and it feels like the bars are to far back
@slaverace1
Жыл бұрын
Hello: Bar position has nothing to do with handling, but if you have the bars positioned best for your body type, your control of the bike will be improved. If your current bar position is uncomfortable, move them forward.

does the different settings forward and back affect handling though? I was always told to keep the bars in line with the centre of the fork tubes? I have tried all the positions and at 6'4 I liked 3 and 4 the most.

I would say no on the handling, and even if it does wouldn’t be very much if at all,. Do what’s most comfortable, because that’s surely gonna outweigh what isn’t even noticeable.
@slaverace1

For the most part the different positions are for comfort BUT if you are uncomfortable or in an awkward position it will effect how YOU handle the bike and weight the bike, but minimal effect on how the BIKE handles.
@speedtoad6167

I would disagree with other responses. The far forward position definitely feels less stable and stresses arms more. If you are too tall then I guess it's a judgement call. Think of those kids in the 1980's with their BMX handlebars way far forward and how twitchy it felt riding like that.
@goinhot9133

Not sure, but it sounds like your talking about the handlebar position in the clamp, not the clamps position in the triple clamp.
