The reason why Slavic and Norse mythology are similar (along with Greco-Roman, Celtic, Persian, and Hindu)is because the mythologies have the same Proto-Indo-European roots.

@Aarush Kumar thats mostly because Hinduism is a fusion between Aryan and Indus valley legends and culture that fermented. Sanatana Dharma however has many parallels if you look back far enough to aryan morality systems, legends, and gods.

Fun fact: in polish there is proverb: Let the thunderbolt hit him ( niech go piorun trzaśnie) - we say this when we are annoyed at somebody. This proverb comes from different version Let Perun hit him (Niech go Perun trzaśnie). In polish we have change Perun to piorun

Might be a romanticized thought but the gods already knew about Ragnarok and what would happen (hence why they where locked up) so it seems to me he just wanted to get it over with sooner so they could be freed, even if it cost him everything

Well yes. I’m a Slavic Pagan and we do have some similar things to the Nords. But that’s because we’re both Indo-European and live quite close to eachother. But, other Gods besides Perun are not the same to the Nordes. For example Odin their allfather and Svarog our allfather are literaly nothing alike.

Only books I know are about slavic beasts. If you know a bit of Polish or could read out context of the words then there is cool book "Bestiariusz Słowiański" i don't know if they are translated to other languages but you can search authors: Paweł Zych and Witold Vargas

It makes sense they'd have similar gods. Geographically, Slavs, Celts and Norsemen were pretty close together and their cultures were probably shaped by similar historical events and environments, on top of interacting with one another.

This might be a bit random but this vaguely reminds me of a charecter in the book that I'm reading. His name is Perrin (I'm not sure if that's how the gods name is spelled but that's the charecters name) and he has a blacksmith's hammer that he sometimes uses as a weapon. Hes acctually really cool. In either the first or second book he started being able to talk with wolves and his eyes turned gold

The further south you go the more the portrayal of the slavic gods differ from the norse. But around the north slavs and nords just took ideas from each other. You can't tell who thought of it first.

There was even a long period when Kievan Rus was ruled by Vikings, so I'm not surprised we have tons of huge similarities with Nords

Slavic Mythology is like sequel to Norse mythology. Perun is Thor after he migrated from Scandinavia to Slav Lands. He made himself the allfather.

It makes it even better when you consider that some modern norse cults use the name þorunn for Thor, which would sound like "Th/Poor-unn"
