@@mr.a5147 yes and no, it exists something called multitracks, when you hear a bass and he is not playing, most probably is that what you are hearing is a synth bass (which would be too complex to actually bring in a stage AND play it). He doesnt cry.. its a vocal effect of the use of his breath
@BIOSHOCKFOXX
Жыл бұрын
Because he wasn't crying, and it somehow didn't sounded that good either. The effect of breathing as if when crying was not a real one, it's part of the act. Originally the whole section in the studio version sounds way different, he tried to replicate those effects, maybe improvised as it fits to the song, but I doubt he did cry. In order to make such rapid breath intakes as if when you are heavily crying, you have to cry quite heavily to do it respectfully, otherwise it wont come up until those heavy emotions and you have to fake it, but it is not heard in his voice whatsoever that he was crying that heavily to create natural breath intakes, because that effect is created when you are out of breath from constant crying. Have you ever cried so heavily or remember at all how you cried when you were a kid, hit your head or some body part so hard, or having some pain in general, that makes you cry so hard that you are becoming out of breath? That is the moment. He wasn't crying here whatsoever, it's staged, part of the act to make you feel like it's very emotional. His voice is under control constantly.

I LOVE the real vocals, of course there's some screams that aren't live, but I can't stand how our current big bands like Bad Omens, Bring Me The Horizon and The 1975 are using live pitch correction for every single song, I love the bands music, but massive respect to Sleep Token for not doing this whilst so many their size does. For me as a musician and singer it's just so off putting, like why am I even here if the focal point of the live performance isn't a full live performance and is half the normal weight of dexterity? I want to hear the imperfection of a real person expressing something with their real ability that particular night, the imperfection is part of the expression. Then also of course just musically, incremental legato and the chorusing of dissonance from vocals being a few cents off-centre is just beautiful to me, a natural human voice is wonderful. This makes me want to see them way more when they aren't instantly sold out...
@tyler_bby

Massive agree with the Bad Omens point… I understand putting effects on the new tracks to mimic whats on the album, but hearing the pitch correction on songs like Limits when a few years ago he was singing it beautifully without is just disappointing.
