My buddy back in high school in the 80s had a 77 Celica hatch and we used to talk about how cool it would be to put a small block Chevy in it and keep the 5 speed manual. They look so cool, like miniature muscle cars from the late 60s

That makes this car unofficially a "JDM Muscle Car" lol, the exterior liftback / fastback 60s (Even though the car was produced in 70s) look combined with a Lexus V8. Perfect :D ..

That’s almost exactly the same numbers as my 1994 Celica Turbo on every single point except boost where I’m putting in about 2.5x more pressure. (3S-GTE) Good job, sir. I have the stock version of this engine in my daily driver LS400. Fantastic engine.

couldn't, regulations banned chrome metal bumpers on cars so they had to start using the plastic and it is hard to make a car look like a true muscle car with a plastic bumper lol

@@tonycruise How about just do a design that inspired a bit of a “muscle/pony car”, but in modern twist and approved by the regulations, as long it doesn’t look shit.

@@tonycruise This is why manufacturer quit using chromed steel bumpers: "Starting with the 1973 model year, cars sold in the U.S. were required to meet new low-speed crash standards laid out by America’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 215 demanded that 1973 cars could withstand a 5 mph (8 km/h) head-on crash into a flat wall, suffering no damage to safety-related items like the horn, fuel system (including gas filler), and lights. The rear end, meanwhile, had to escape a 2.5 mph (4 km/h) hit unscathed."

That Lexelica was SO ate up man! You dig? That was built for me. Ha!ha! WAY back in'80 to '86 I owned a 1974 celica GT 5 spd A/C. I LOVED THAT CAR, IT WAS THE PERFECT SIZE , AND SO PRECISE IN HANDLING. OWNERS MANUAL STATED IT WOULD CRUISE AT 95 . IT WOULD..all day and all night long.

Out of curiosity are you able to turn the plenum around to place the throttle body on the left side, thereby shortening the inlet length and reducing plumbing and improving throttle response albeit only a little. Would look tidier.as well. Damn nice little 28 you got there.
