It's mad they were shaping the scene and never knew how important they were just keeping it real was the key

People need to recognise how legendary these man were at this point. Nobody wanted it and I know for facts, their vinyl dubs were blazing down west end record stores. Those who know init. Trend setting in early grime spitting grizzle before anyone.

Benny bey people act like they know Grime when in reality, they know nothing. For many, Grime started post 2010 😂 I was mixing ol skool garage with grime instrumentals from these dons on pirate radio as far back as 2002. These man were very early and the listeners today just don’t know the true history. You had to be older than 16 and really focused on the scene to know what was up back then. 2002, I was 19 and spinning all them tracks helping to build the scene when it was nothing, so I remember it all well. Without these, we wouldn’t have had the talent come through after.

Rob P. Nah bro, read again. I’m pretty much saying the opposite as I explained you had to be older than 16 in 2002 to really know and understand the depths of the scene. I’m fully aware that a huge percentage of grime listeners may have been in nappies during the time so just wouldn’t get the true essence of what early grime was like. Much like I will never truly understand what the MJ fever was really like when he turned solo and put out Off The Wall and then his Thriller album. It was 1983 and I was just born so you can’t be faulted for not being around during the time. Granted, the Grime scene is much more condensed to London in its origins and a lot was put out on white label vinyl/unrecorded pirate radio sets but if anyone wants more info, there are very good snapshots in time to delve into I.e. Risky Roads (epic), Lord of the Mic and Lord of the Decks. You have to dig a little but there’s stuff out there that can be found from the early days. Failing that, anyone into the scene over 35 should know what’s up. It was mad seeing old skool garage morph into Grime. I hated that as it was happening, grew to accept it and then by 2003 I was playing grime instrumentals.. By 2006 producing it. They were the good old days. This new age drill is kinda messing with what we created but I guess music evolves over time.
