So beautiful! And as you say, "One light and 2 V-flats. It looks simple... when you show us how. Thanks for this video. BTW, thank you for including the script with your videos. For a guy with aging ears it makes it easy to recover when my ears and brain don't connect with some word you have just said. Often it is the name of a piece of equipment or a reference to a person (amazing how C, D, F, G, S, Z, T can all sound the same sometimes through a computer speaker). 😁

It looks like you also used a strobe/off camera flash from the flashes shown in the video but I didn’t see you mention anything about that in the description. I thought using a flash would take away from the effect used by the consistent lighting.

How do you get good might on models face since you are lighting from the bottom ? Is there anything above model to bounce light on her face? Or is the bottom light bouncing off the ceiling ?

This lady does an outstanding job at clearly and systematically explaining and demonstrating key ideas to creaate images. I am not at all a fashion photographer, but it is just generally useful to see how she approaches creating the image she wants. The process is really key and more widely applicable than the video title suggests.

Thank you Lindsay. I see shadows below her nose and jawline that suggest a light is also coming from above to counter the “monster light” from lighting from below. What am I missing?

Well, it is a bare bulb, so some errant light is probably also bouncing from the ceiling subtly.

More images of your results demonstrating what you were talking about would have been very helpful rather than trying to envision what the result should be from your discussion of the subject. A few images at the end but to long after the fact.

Let’s not underestimate the value of: a great looking model, a model that knows how to pose, great makeup, a great hairstyle, and a great outfit. These add tremendously to the final result. I think the lighting here is possibly the smallest piece of the puzzle.
@lindsayadlerphoto

Of course, but that isn't the point of the video. The other elements have a lot to do with it as well. This isn't about "how to create such and such shoot from start to finish" it's just about creating a slice of light. :)
