You need to have one of the lossless modes selected for the "Premiere compatibility" option to become available. Premiere only works with lossless files. I use the "Lossless 10-bit log" mode a lot, especially for 1080p. IIRC, it is recommended by slimraw for 12 bit raw cameras if you are really picky. As I understand it, with this mode you get pristine 12 bit blacks in a 10 bit container. Or something like that. Looking forward to your workflow video!

My pleasure! Its a great little fp companion! And def necessary if shooting a movie on it haha In fact, for our newest movie we’re working on I’ve shot 11 days so far and im up to about 1000 gigs at 4:1 compression…. Imagine that without slimraw 😂

What format does it output the CDNG. I have been using Wondershare Filmora to edit clips (newby), and yet to pull the trigger on DaVinci due to the cost. Is this something just to compress the files to use with DaVinci or does it work for other editors. I am shooting a FPL and the CDNG files are massive but nice to be sure. I have used PremPro as I am an adobe user for LR and PS, but as I don't need After Effects, stuck to the light weight Filmora...... I guess what I am asking is should I use Davinci and slim raw for my workflow

Soooo SlimRaw basically doesn’t change the file format at all. All files remain the exact same, just compressed in their size. Someone pointed out in the pinned comment that Premiere can accept the CDNG files if you tick off the correct setting when compressing through SlimRaw! I don’t know of any other software than can play Cdng back other than resolve which I definitely recommend! (Also there is a free version of resolve and you only miss out on a couple things I believe). But anyway yea that’s basically the deal! Cheers!

hi, when I'm on the road, I want to have as little equipment with me as possible. I like to have the iPad pro with me. Is there also a way to compress the cDNG files using an iPad Pro?

Hey man! Sorry it looks like I missed this comment! So far, I have not seen anything like an iPad thats able to ingest cdng files etc. :/ you’d have to do some research. Hope you found something that works for you! Cheers!

hey what's up. What you use as a storage solution for editing 4k CDNG in real time? Is network attached storage a solution or not at all.

I'm considering a nas for future projects but right now SSD's aren't super expensive so I have 2 or 3 4tb ssd's for everything. And backing up to a slower 20tb HDD

does 4k 12bit cdng convert to 3:1 slimraw will be more easily play and render in davinci? the 4k 12bit cdng from sigma fp is chooppy and stuter in my macbook

For me, playback is butter on an m1 mac after conversion! Possibly the m1 is just a bit quicker, or maybe check what kind of ssd you're using with the footage on it etc. because there could be a bottleneck there. Lmk if you have any more questions and maybe I could give some more help. Cheers!

Hi so im processing 800G of 4k cdng raw on a T5 ssd to my hardrive with Lossy 4:1 compression. Its taking about 4 hours, do you have any idea why?

Check your usb c cable you’re using! And also how you’re connecting to your pc. I’ve used certain cables/connections where it’s very slow because of bandwidth limitations etc. So try a different cable and make sure you’re either connecting over usb c or usb 3! I have the same drive and connect over usb c on both ends to my pc which for reference takes like a half hour for a tb I think
