In this video I'm listening Killpop by Slipknot - this is my reaction and I'm trying to understand what is this about.
The meaning of the song is confusing (like almost all the time) because straightforward songwriter (lyricist) is like a rule breaker in a bad way. And the rule is "whatever you wanna write about - please hide it in metaphors and scheme under the scheme, in that case you can say whatever you want, everybody will also understand it how ever they want and all happy". So, I feel that addictive girl is metaphor there (but I'm not sure what she represents there - him, or actually this music industry - what I think generally (again it's just my first time listening conclusion) - that it's about love for music but hate for that industry, and its dark side. Maybe it's also kinda personal for me because I hate POP in a way - I'm agree that there is a some decent major musicians out there who creating a nice music (but in a way it's still sounds like a product rather than something genuine from the soul of that person). Anyway, I think that it's unfair that superficial empty plain "art" which is just a business - having that numbers, popularity and power, while talented musicians who performing in a rock genre - with messages, great melodies, unique sound - having a hard time to find that audience - also because of the rules which necessary to follow - and it's becoming a giant business mechanism instead of just being pure real art - via that genuine art you can share and explain yourself and go through that pain - and not be alone, and influence or help somebody else, but what manufactured 'artists' can do? it could be well produced, but when it's not real ... at least it's not suppose too be that popular like it is. Slipknot is awesome, Corey Taylor is even sort of milky)
