I call them "cell phone zombies" and when I can, I beep at them with my car. It's so funny to see their heads jerk up! LOL I hate texting so I don't do it very often. I do not text and drive or text and walk. I went back to a flip phone as my android allowed me to waste all day on Facebook. I won't talk on the phone and walk as that is too much of a distraction. Being distracted opens you up for accidents but also criminal attack. I won't use headphones at the gym since I lose my sense of hearing.

In urban environments, people rely on the traffic signals to tell them when it's "safe" to enter the street. I saw two people almost get hit by an SUV recently; the driver overlooked a red light; the pedestrians entered the crosswalk when their signal turned green, without checking the traffic, and walked right into the path of the SUV. Fortunately, the driver slammed on the brakes in the last second before impact. Next issue: why, oh why, do people stand on the curb with their toes sticking out in the street, waiting for the light to change??? If there is an accident, somebody loses control of their vehicle, etc... they will be the FIRST to be run over and have nowhere to run because of those behind them. I stand back a few meters from the curb; but that's just me.
