They were a great band at singing, but they failed at playing instruments. That's why at their concerts, starting in the 70s, they brought an additional band: another percussionist, another keyboard player, another guitarist and a bassist.

I can't seem to stop watching this version. Dennis on the drums, pushing the tempo. Nobody fell behind, and they absolutely killed it! Mike just couldn't figure out that they were a rock band.

How can you possibly be serious? "Beyond amazing!" "Genius thinking!" "More than humanly possible!" None of that is true. beach Boys harmonies are quite good, but they conform to well established musical theory that hs been understood by serious musicians for centuries and exemplified over and over.

This song means so much to me. About a year and a half ago my aunt suffered a cardiac arrest and her brain went without oxygen for several minutes. They managed to resuscitate her but the damage had been done and she was forced to be a prisoner in her own body for a year while suffering full body cramps and spasms. Several observations: If you read or know anything of their history together, it amazing they are still alive and able to be on the same stage with one another. I worked back stage security back in the late 70's and met them all over the years, and it's doubly amazing Brian can still form sentences after the way he has cooked his brain. This particular song is so magnetic, hypnotizing, and wickedly sad on so many levels, that it is absolutely astounding.

Yet somehow Carl was the greatest singer in the band by an 84 Reagan type landslide. Brian sounded like an American Idol first round reject here as he did in virtually ever performance since the 60's. I can't fucking stand Mike Love but he still sounds good and Al Jardine is easily the greatest remaining Beach Boy. Not even close. Even Al's son, Matt, puts Brian to absolute shame these days.

It was always in my head that Mike's voice or Brian's falsetto were the defining part of the Beach Boys. 0:55 though, it made me realize that it's probably Al Jardine. In every song, he usually had the interesting/unusual tenor harmony that stood out and made their vocal harmonies so unique.

Amazing good. The Beach Boys somehow, despite themselves, always could pull it together. I love Brian's voice in the 70's and 80's, all sweet and cigarette ravaged but never for a moment not perfect. And Dennis somehow pulling it out of what must have been a decade of drug haze, and even Mike, Mike Love weirdo as weirdo can be, sounds just brilliant and perfect. The boys always managed some kind of sublime, creative ecstasy. They're the one real American folk band.

Saw them numerous times and met the brothers when I was a kid (around '65). My neighbor was their insurance agent and they had come over to his house to do some business. I was in the pool with a bunch of other kids and when they came out we all got to meet them. Man, it's only recently that I realize how special that time was. Looking around today, I'm feeling a deep melancholy for those days.

Dennis Wilson has to be one of the most underrated drummers of all time. I was looking through Rolling Stones' list of greatest drummers and I don't believe he even made the list. This performance, among others, proves that Dennis wasn't just a clubber. The man had technique, rhythm, and impeccable timing. RIP Dennis and Carl as well

I feel like Mike felt a lot of jealousy as a young man. He had three super talented and better looking cousins, and his little brother was nearly 7 feet tall and a player in the NBA (whose son went on to also be in the NBA - the Cav's Kevin Love).
