There is an ERROR in the "Simplified Bishop Method Short-Term Stability Analysis" table. I believe that column 3 "Horizontal Width (b) ft" has been vertically transposed. Slice 1 is 17' wide not 57'. Slice 2 is 22' wide not 44' etc. It looks like this error was copied from the US Army Corp of Engineers global stability manual EM 1110-2-1902 (31 Oct 03) Figure F-11.

hello, thank your for the explanation, I have a question, in the purely cohesive soil formula, c is multiplied by delta l, this delta l should be the average height of each slice? but in the original equation, c was multiplied by width of each slice, why does it differ? And should this method yield a bigger safety factor than that of taylor's method? i had an exercise with homogeneous purely coherent soil, abd i got an answer bigger by 0.6, is that okay?

Thank you very much sir. I am a working project engineer but I missed visiting these types of geotechnical subjects that I was fond of in university. I like the way you explained the formula origins. Exactly how I learned them during those days.

Thank you very much for sharing with us such an interesting lecture about slope stability analysis. My question is how do you get the value of horizontal with for each slices?
