There were articles i found that seem to contradict eachother on the slots and it just made it confusing but this clarified it. Thanks

Good stuff. I was second guessing myself, but i followed the labeling provided by the manufacturer. This explains why they labeled them as they did, even though the slots and holes would make you think otherwise. Thanks!

I bought a set of powerstop rotors for my truck but the slots are not machined all the way to the edge like yours. If the slot is just partially machined, thats like useless, there is nowhere for the vapors and dust to go. Can i try using a grinder to finish that machining all the way ?

It will just stay in the vain and get ejected when it rotates past the pad. The design will still work.

my kit (powerstop) came with small white stickers labels for front passenger side front drivers side... took out the guesswork.

I understand what you're saying about the veins, but with the surface grooves, the dirt and brakepad dust is pushed towads the centre of the disc. Then when that is blocked up, the dirt and dust won't have anywhere to go so it will be pushed onto the disc surface and then performance will be drastically reduced. Of course if the manufacturer is saying put them this way round, then I'm sure they know much better than me, but just from a locigal point of view, surely you want this dirt pushed out from the centre to clear it and keep that groove clear?

I think it was EBC rotors that said about pushing and clearing the dirt out of the grooves

I ran slotted rotors on the truck for 100.000km and didn't have that issue.

This is true. But i saw another video that says if you have straight vanes but your slots go all the way to the edge like yours, then the slots should face towards the rear to aid in releasing the gases and dirt. Thinking of swapping mine to face the rear as well.

Did the other video show documentation from the manufacturer? That's all you have to go by. Most will label left and right.

Funny thing. My buddies srt8 charger has slotted rotors and the ones on the driver's side point forward and the passenger side point back. So literally one side pointed one way the other side the other way. The ones I installed on my car the slots and cross drilling sweep backward and each rotor had a sticker on it specifying which corner it went on.

Did your buddy buy from a reputable brand or some cheap stuff off eBay?

You're wrong, the slots should be pointing forward to remove the hot brake dust away from the brake by centrifugal force slinging dust outward ..! Putting the slots the way you have them you will keep that hot brake dust building up next to the caliper ...!

Lol, I literally am saying it depends on the manufacturer and their instructions.

@@Wildkat-1 To allow the the gas to go somewhere to the pad can make contact and clean the pad. Are you literally disagreeing with the manufacturer instructions? I said it can go either way, it just depends on the manufacturer.
