The only problem with sitting this close is the sound coming off the stage gets to you a fraction of a second before the mains overhead. You can hear the snare drum hits sounding a bit "thick" as there are almost two snare hits instead of just one. Kind of a "flam" if you're familiar with your drum rudiments! We were the two best seats in the house that night after walking up to the ticket office 5 minutes til curtain! Literally in the exact center of the front row ....seats 20 and 21 in a 40-seat row. It was a bit tough having to deal with the lag time in the sound. But the visual aspect of being that close, sure made up for it. A bucketlist moment!

At first I thought it was just the sound traveling differently than the PA, but it appears the person who posted the video (and I assume was there) replied. If the drummer was really out of time, I blame their in ear monitors. There is no way that someone gets to play with John Mayer and doesnt know what theyre doing lol

He frequently stated that he loves very complicated guitar music but knows it doesn't sell, so he made a compromise on each album with a few tracks that he loves, and a lot of tracks that he knows will push sales so he can continue doing what he loves. So with him you really have to listen to every song on every album, dig out covers he did over the years, and go down that rabbit hole to get a feel for the range he actually is capable of. The songs that usually get pushed are his least favorite with the exception of Gravity from what I heard in interviews.
