The plan was to catch some live baits in the early morning, go catch a bunch of Snapper using Slow Pitch Jigging, and then drop some livebaits to target kingfish.
The Ocean’s Legacy Slow Pitch jigs worked great, with Sam hooking up on first drop, and Joel shortly after, we had a steady stream of Snapper coming on board and a few tasty Pigfish too.
And then Joel hooked onto something big, after a good 10 minute fight, a nice fat Kingfish came on board which Sam expertly gaffed, we made sure that the Kingfish was well bleed and iced, so ensure it would be in great eating condition.
The snapper fishing continued well, and at the new spots for live baiting, it seemed only Snapper were going to eat our livebaits. We did manage a small Kingfish on SPJ which was released, but it looks like the bigger specimen weren’t interested in our livebaits
