Thanks for posting these, your winter camping adventures. We get to live a bit vicariously through you in the peaceful, lonely, and very beautiful winter woodland without having to endure the relentless cold ;-) I don't mind the cold so much (I enjoy iceboating!), but I find it incredibly exhausting! So kudos to you (and coffee is your friend! lol)

Yes, after this trip I decided to embrace coffee and not go completely caffeine free. So now I am half-caf. Never heard of iceboating but I've seen some cool guys on Eel Pond doing ice sailing so maybe that is the same thing.

@@RachelWhelton yes, iceboating = ice sailing. Long days on the ice in high winds (as a result of sailing at 50mph), tons of fun :-). Half caf does the trick for me as well - but I literally drink more than a half gallon throughout the day. :P

I remember back In the 90’s those tent sites were on the other side of the river an which is now called the Lincoln Woods Trail…we called that trail the wilderness trail,,,,,,winter in the woods is so peaceful.

Hmnn, I find it so interesting how these campsites change around. And I heard there used to be a bridge going across. It's kind of funny how this campsite is on this side which seems to go nowhere except the wilderness. Maybe I need to go into that wilderness in the summer and check it out.

Looked like only a couple sites had been used lately. This area and another one on the other side, number 12. That one had a lot of kindling and I maybe should have gone over there to get it! I wonder how this location is during summer all packed full of people. You should go have it to yourself before then.

It does offer a very nice sense of peace. I remember enjoying solo woods walks in winter growing up in Maine. Loved that one cloud shot you got where they were rolling and kind of pinkish.

Thanks! Yes, it is good to appreciate winter, preferably during winter. I feel like hibernating but it will be better to keep getting outside because before you know it, winter will change again.

Thanks! I actually have a list of certain shots to learn and slow motion snowfall has been on the list a long time. Sometimes I'm too tired to remember the artsy shots but I want to improve with that sort of thing.

Yeah. Around my house we are starting to get some bird chirping action and that makes me very excited for spring and the return of seasonal birds. Good times lie ahead.

Right, I agree. But I had the pulk so I figured I'd throw on the bear bin. Next one I will not be bringing the can due to weight. There have been a few odd sitings of winter bears who should be hibernating so I keep a lookout for tracks.

@@RachelWhelton I didn't hear that about the winter bear sightings. I have been doing some hot tent camping in the White's this winter and cooking right in the tent counting on the bears being asleep lol. By the way..hot tenting is a lot of fun if you have never tried it!

I was on that trail Monday, finally trying out the snowshoes that I got for Christmas. I didn’t get all the way to the tent site since it was late and I was short on time but I enjoyed it once I started to get the hang of it and the trail was lovely and peaceful. Hats off to you for camping out in January, which is next level. You seem to have your gear and preparation nicely dialed in.

It's a great trail. Low risk as long as you don't go right up to the edge on the two river lookouts, which seem to be eroding into little cliffs. The trees on that trail are really beautiful.

Nice trip Rachel. What type of footwear do you use? Do your feet get cold? They don't seem very insulated. I sent you a pm, I guess you didn't respond because you were out in the woods!
@RachelWhelton
7 ай бұрын
These are Keen Evo boots. Not insulated nor expensive. But lightweight and comfortable and mostly waterproof. On day one my feet do not get cold. In the morning my boots are sometimes cold so I put "toe warmers" on my wool socks and that is very toasty. I did buy some fancy insulated boots but they are heavy so at the moment, not enticing. Maybe I need to "break them in." As for pm, I don't reallllly doooo that... I mean I don't even know where that is and I guess it's one of those things that makes me feel defensive, either because I am introverted or because I dislike personal inquiries (not saying yours is that - but in general).

I watched your KZitem video. Your every video is really awesome. But your channel and your videos expect more views and subs. I analyzed Your KZitem channel and I found KZitem video SEO is not done. This is why your video is not going viral and views are not increasing.

Swix Nordic glide wax for waxless skis. There weren't a lot of options at the store. It works very well unless you go into a stream then you have to re-apply. The ten dollar bottle lasts me a few years.
