IMO, you should refrain from doing melodic single-note hits such as particularly with the piano here. It's supposed to be a backing track. When I try and play over this, the damn pianist wants to take the center spot and craps over my solo lines with his own melodies he must think are better than mine. And he doesn't even hear my lines and react accordingly with counter melodies or anything musical like that, he plays blindly according to his own ideas. Fire that pianist, man.

Thank you for the constructive criticism, I just fired him! On a serious note though: Yes, I will aim to keep things as sparse as possible with future tracks. It is something I've become increasingly aware of the more I make them. Less is more, you need to give the audience as much room as possible to play.

@@Jam_Sphere I'm glad you understood my criticism. I consume a lot of backing tracks and I've made a few of my own, and I'm trying to learn what elements make a good backing track and what spoils the fun. If I'm making supporting tracks to a song with an existing melody, I can add melodic lines as a conversation with the main melody, but if it's a jam track, nobody knows what the soloist will play.
