This is Part 2 of the 'Slow Stitch Portrait' April Stitch Along. Today we are going to lay the foundations of a face to really get things going.
Today we are going to use our template to find the foundational shapes of light and shadow in our portrait, and applique them on to our background. It's going to look quite scary at the end of this stage, but don't worry because we have two more weeks of stitching to bring our portraits to life.
If you missed part 1 last week, you can find it here: • Slow Stitch Portait Pa...
In that video, I showed you how to manipulate a photo to make it useable as a template, and how to create a background with your favourite things.
I have chosen to use felt for my portrait, but you can use fabrics, patterns and textures that really say something about you. This is a project that allows you to really have fun and play with anything you like in your stash.
If you like what you see and want to catch all the videos in this series, you can subscribe to this channel, and if you click the notifications bell, you will never miss an upload.
Join me at 2.30pm GMT every Sunday for a restful time of slow stitch, embroidery and textile art. Each month we are going to create a complete piece of art that we will create bit by bit each week.
Feel free to follow my design, use my piece as inspiration, or you could use the same techniques as me to create something totally original.
I hope to try lots of new things this year as I create my 2024 stitched journal. I hope you will come along for the ride!
Please tag me when you post your creations on social media. @featherstitchhouse and use #fshwingingit24 so that I can see your beautiful work.
