Thank for reaction! Beautiful song, legendary! About song: In 1942, having met with the composer Mark Fradkin, Dolmatovsky reads him a poem and offers to make a song out of it, but in those days the song was never born. And now, a year later, on the personal order of the commander of the Stalingrad Front, Marshal of the Soviet Union Konstantin Rokossovsky, the song still appears. Mikhail Fradkin plays it everywhere, at all stations and half-stations to the soldiers, and soon the song overtakes its creators and begins to live its own life. The translate (part) of the song: The night is short The clouds are sleeping And lies in my palm Your unfamiliar hand. After worries The town is sleeping. I heard a waltz tune And looked here for an hour. Chorus: Even though I'm almost unfamiliar with you, And far from here is my home It's like I'm again Near my dear home ... In this empty room We are dancing together So tell me the word I don’t know what.

Ok, I found some information about this song. But, I can say - no, it wasn't created for incourage army. Also, suddenly, this song was banned by Stalin. From russian wiki with Google Translate: " In his memoirs, Evgeny Dolmatovsky (autor of lyrics) reported that the story described in this song was associated with a specific episode told to Fradkin (composser of song) by the pilot Vasily Vasiliev. Once, finding himself late in the evening in one of the front-line villages, Vasily heard the sounds of music. Coming closer, he saw a dancing youth, as well as a lonely girl standing to the side. Having invited her to a waltz, the pilot met her - her name was Zina. But very soon they had to say goodbye, because the driver honked the car in which Vasily was supposed to leave. After telling Fradkin about this story, Vasiliev added: “Here you, composers, are composing songs. I have a request for you: write a song about what I have told you.If you describe everything accurately, Zina will understand that this is about us with her.Maybe she will hear, respond to you. "And indeed, after a while, that girl wrote a letter on the radio in which she asked to find out the address of the pilot. Fradkin said: “We contacted the aviation unit where the lieutenant served. But Vasily Vasiliev could no longer answer Zina: in one of the air battles he died a hero's death ... " Mostly this song about accidental meetings, dances, amorousness in this short meetings, and parting (earlier this song called "Officer waltz" and hero of this song need to go further, to continue campaing). P.S. Sorry for mistakes in my text...

Good evening! Vena, you are a very smart and hardworking person! please listen to more Russian speech in audio recordings. The main thing: do not hesitate to speak Russian. You're doing great! I am very glad that you finally listened to the song that is loved by all Russians. To make you understand the story, I'll draw you a picture in words...Let's say that you are a young soldier who has been sent to a hospital in a small town on the frontline. You have already recovered and you need to return to the front. You have two hours before the train departs. You have no friends in this city and you decided to see it, walk around it. Evening comes and suddenly, outside the gates of the Park almost abandoned in the war, you see an almost empty area. Hear the peaceful sounds of a pre-war waltz. On it, two pairs of girls are waltzing to a gramophone. And another one stands at the railing and looks at them. She doesn't have a pair . All men at the front. You so wanted to return to peacetime, to forget about the horrors of war. And you go up to a strange girl and ask her to dance. You see her thin face from hunger, tired eyes and an old darned dress, but the sounds of the waltz bring you back to peacetime, to bright may, and before you is the girl of your dreams! You are happy! Letting go for a short time! The girl accompanies you to the station and waves her hand after you! And you carry away forever in your heart this light of harsh military everyday life! That's what this song is about! This project, dedicated to songs from the great Patriotic War, involves the best singers from the previous proet, and international groups, musicians from the fraternal republics of the former USSR. For example, the singer you like is Roman Russu, from Odessa (Ukraine), a violinist from Armenia, a young singer with an Opera voice from Kazakhstan, guitarists from Moscow, and among them Timur himself...

it's a song about warrior whose army passed by some small town to take a rest and move on next. He was walking by some house, and he's heard "the waltz melody" coming from that house. He came in and met a woman that he fell in love with. Now they are dancing this "accidental waltz". They don't say a word almost, because right now here are only them and no war. They are happily dancing but they understand that tomorrow he's gonna go away and they probably never gonna see each other anymore. It is not great love story maybe but it's such unusual feeling for the soldier (or any soldier as well) to taste a peaceful life even for 1 hour. It sings that he feels himself like he's home again, so warm, so good. That's what all warriors miss and dream about. lyrics The night is short. The clouds are sleeping. Your unfamiliar hand lies in my palm. After troubles, the town sleeps. I heard a waltz melody and looked in here for an hour. Even though I hardly know you And my home is far from here It's like I'm back at home again. In this empty hall we dance together, So tell me any word I don't know what about. We're gonna dance, sing and be friends. I completely forgot how to dance And I ask you to excuse me for that. Morning is calling for a crusade again. Leaving your small town, I will pass by your gates. Even though I hardly know you And my home is far from here It's like I'm back at home again. In this empty hall we dance together, So tell me any word I don't know what about.

The night is short The clouds are sleeping And lies in my palm Your unfamiliar hand After worries The town is sleeping I heard a waltz tune And looked here for an hour Even though I don't know you at all And far from here is my home It's like I'm again Near my dear home ... In this empty room We are dancing together So say a word I don't know what............ Then there are many mistakes in translation. Using the Internet translation .. big difficulties close to the text. During the war, even a simple dance with an unfamiliar girl ... was a light remembrance for a soldier. As if he was at home, in a peaceful life. It was a bright ray in the military realities of a soldier's life. After all, every soldier dreamed ... let's end the war ... let's return home and live (home, family, children). But many soldiers will die later. And many who went through the war ... returned to the ashes (the Nazis killed the family ... including small children, and burn the village) .... But it will be later, .... In the meantime, hope for a bright future and memories of home. ...

Версии: #1#2 The night is short; the clouds are asleep and upon my palm rests your unfamiliar hand. The trouble has passed; the whole town sleeps. I heard the melody of a waltz and dropped by for just an hour. Though I don't know you at all and my home is far from here, it's as if, once again, I'm at my dear home. In this empty hall, the two of us dance. So, say at least a word - about what? I don't even know. We'll become friends; we'll sing, we'll turn 'round and around. I've completely forgotten how to dance, so I ask you to forgive me. The morning calls me to march off once more; as I leave your little town, I'll pass by your door. Though I don't know you at all and my home is far from here, it's as if, once again, I'm at my dear home. In this empty hall, the two of us dance. So, say at least a word - about what?
