A piece of pineapple eaten by slugs and ants over the course of 50 hours.
I shot this at one frame every 5 seconds over the course of about 50 hours. I took 38,489 shots in total and as of this video it is the largest number of stills that I have needed to work with in a single project. The majority of the playback speed of this time lapse is at 150 times normal speed but in parts it is sped up significantly faster than that, as the total run time of the footage at a playback speed of 150 times normal would have resulted in nearly 19 minutes of footage.
I shot this on a Canon T3 with a vintage Super Albinar 50-205 mm macro lens attached to a set of bellows. The camera was attached to a dummy battery and an intervalometer. I though the lens setup provided enough depth of field, but I did need to adjust the exposure time throughout the day a few times as the sun and clouds drastically changed the amount of light during the shoot.
This shoot initially started as just a project to look at the filling up of Ant Gaster with pineapple juice, and watch the movement of ants on fruit.
