Robbie Shakespeare and rhythm partner Sly Dunbar have long been recognized as one of the most prolific and innovative partnerships in reggae. “We don’t fear to work no time” says Robbie in this wide-ranging mid-90s interview. They never stood still, recording with, among others, U Roy, Peter Tosh, Black Uhuru, Burning Spear and….Serge Gainsbourg. They reveal what holds them together, and why Chris Blackwell signed them to Island Records (Sly’s dancing shoes!). Robbie recalls first seeing Sly in action at the Tit For Tat Club, and how they later took dub to an international audience. Steve Barrow asks the questions while Rick Elgood and Don Letts do the shooting.
