Truck campers are structurally built differently from travel trailers. My 2018 850 Lance truck camper purchased new at around $36,000. Today, I just received an offer for $30,000. So, the resale value of truck campers is higher than travel trailers. I live in my camper full-time and love it. I'm thinking about upgrading to the 2024 975.

Hey Brad, ‘Love these minimalist designs. ‘Got an older Dodge Cummins here with a low payload capacity. What I’d love sometime is for you to run a tape along the bottom from the bulkhead to the inside rear face, giving an idea what’s left in an 8’ bed should us long-bed guys wanna consider a short-bed unit. I’m pleased to see you subtlety a little more forthright addressing payload- Nice job 👍🏽

9:10 Applying "Klasse" in the red bottle to your polycarbonates, painted items, and other non-porous surfaces will greatly reduce them from scratching and fading. I even apply it to my windshield, and it works like a rain repellent, too. A little goes a long way, apply with a mildly damp wax application pad, leaving a barely noticeable layer. Remove when dry with a cotton/microfiber cloth, feel the difference!

I have the “lighter” Lance 650 on my 2004 2500 Cummins 2wd 4dr - don’t believe the weight they advertise or that it’s for 1/2 ton pickups. To stay under my GVWR I ditched my 5 steel wheels for lighter aluminum wheels, saving 100 pounds and remove the 4 electric jacks when it’s on the truck to save 140 pounds. And I still go over the CAT scales each long trip to see where I’m at. I have 5 different trailers ranging from an Aluma cycle trailer up to a 7x14 aluminum enclosed trailer and to compensate for the hitch weight I remove the spare from the truck and haul it in the trailer along with everything else that I can to keep the weight off the 4 wheels of the Dodge Ram/Lance combo. And I always use a hitch weight scale to make sure I’m at 10-15% tongue weight. Why all of this? I’ve had twice that one of my Michelin tires blew up and tore up the truck bed. So now I have tires with a higher load capacity and tire monitoring that tells me the temp and pressure of each tire, including trailer tires, as I’m driving down the road. Moral of the story-weigh your load, it will be more than you guesstimate!

Absolutely ridiculous!! 57k for that? Let me tell you folks something: Last year I bought a 1980's used camper in great shape from an elderly couple that owned it since new. They advertised it for $1,200. I paid $1,000 for it. Always stored under cover and never leaked. It fits an 8 foot truck bed. It has a full size 3 burner stove with large oven, large stainless kitchen sink, large 2 way fridge with large freezer, water heater, 30 gallon fresh water tank. It doesn't have a bathroom though. But we don't live in the darn thing only camp 2 or 3 days at a time, so I bought a nice composting toilet for it. The color of the camper was that ugly 70's and 80's cream and brown, so we painted the exterior white and turquoise blue. We also painted the entire interior. I put in a fantastic fan, new bed matress, new tile on the floor, new back splase behind the sink and stove, and added 2 solar panels on the roof, both 150w each and a controller. Then I bought two large RV batteries. I have a TOTAL of $3,500 into the camper and it now looks brand new. Oh, one more thing, it doesnt have a heater. But we dont camp in the winter anyway. However, I plugged the camper into my Honda 2,000w EU generator and ran a small space heater inside the camper on a 25F day and it stayed 75F inside no problem. I set the space heater on 750w and the generator ran literally for hours during this test. So for those cold summer mornings, no problem!! The camper smells fresh and new inside and looks great, like new. All this for $3,500!! If you're only weekend camping, or perhaps a week long road trip or hunting this is the way to go. The BEST part, my camper only weights 1,300 lbs dry, and still less than 2,000 lbs loaded. My Chevy 2500 HD diesel doesn't even know it's back there.

250 is just fine for an 825. My uncle is hauling an 865 in a ‘17 250 6.7 diesel needing zero suspension support at all, doing many 6hr+ trips. If you don’t have a need for a Truck Camper then yeah it’s not for you. Pull behinds are last thing people who buy these are thinking about. TC’s are for people who need to haul a boat, horse trailer, motorcycle trailer, etc behind them. Or people who want to visit national parks, or do true off grid camping, or Alaska trips and so on. These have everything you need, not everyone needs or wants to haul a house behind them. Not to mention the resale value on these are 10x’s better than a pull behind because they’re not dime a dozen. Lastly, If you purchase a pull behind of equal build quality and materials, you’re in the $100k range. There are different levels to Truck Campers just like there are cars or anything else.

I purchased a 2019 Travel Lite 700. Luckily found one nearby as the lighter ones are much harder to find. Paid a little under 10k. It is around 1300lbs and I have lightened it up a little by smaller propane tank, but added a light 5lbs TV. I installed some air bags and have no issues at all hauling it around on a 1500 Ram. Unfortunately I believe Travel lite went under like many during Covid, but they make some great lightweight slides if you can find a good used one! They hold their value well too.

@@itsbrad I understand. You did a great job of course. Just don't understand the pricing at all. It isn't a thumbs down to you, its the owners.
