Hey Nick, Since you guys over in the UK call the trunk a "boot", shouldn't you guys be calling the frunk a "froot", instead? LOL

It seems to me that manufacturers that offer vehicles with glass roofs without a roll-away shade do not test their cars in extreme temperatures. I learned from my 2005 C230 that when the temperature dips below -25°C, you can have the heat on max and you can never seem to be rid of the cold. There's always a chill in the car until you close the shade, at which time it acts as an insulator. The same goes for my GLK350 and my current GLC300. I would never consider a vehicle without a shade unless it is available without the glass roof.

Wow, interesting. Being in the states, I had no idea that Smart made those cars. I think the #3 is sexier than the #1, but JMO. I can see a few elements that remind me of the GLC Coupe. Not a fan of just transparent glass that doesn't open, but it’s beautiful. Range is okay, I would not need long range. Now I am going to checkout the company site.

Interesting alternative. Good to see what I call cheaper everyday vehicles being tested. Love to see more eg new VW Golf 8.5, Audi A3 update, that kind of thing. More mass market appeal. Nice broad review here Nick. Thank you.

Disappointing boot space and no real battery range increase over smart one but well done to Smart for keeping the rear wiper while many have dropped it. Would have been nice to have a spare wheel option.

Hi Nick,a query,are you going to cover what happens when you breakdown/ run out of power in one of these electric vehicles, ref recovery ?
@npoleary
6 ай бұрын
It’s quite tricky to, you’d know well in advance before you even left if the electric car wasn’t going to make it. But just like a petrol / diesel it would roll to a stop (with a lot of warning on the dash!) The only way to move it would be to charge it which breakdown services do have capability to charge them up just enough to get them to move. But as I said, the Sat Navs in most EV’s are so sophisticated that you’d know before you even left. But it could be a video idea in the future!

I worked for the Royal Mail, when the ev broke down they had to be recovered on a flat bed, with all the wheels on dollys.
@npoleary
6 ай бұрын
That could happen, it depends if the recovery service carry a device like a generator to charge it. Which comically is run by fuel ⛽️ 😅 But yeah that could happen, in that scenario recovery is the most efficient thing to do. Remove the car, sort an alternative so that the person can continue working, you wouldn’t be able to hang around for it to charge in that scenario.

Hi Nick, I have purchased a new Gla and have a problem. When I collected it, the Mercedes me was connected by was updating and activating. However I have had it a week drove near 100 miles and it appears to be stuck. No more apps have activated and although the car is showing on my iPad, none of the data is, fuel consumption, etc. any ideas. Regards harry

They still not could not help me couldn’t get it on as I said you before I connect to my Bluetooth and my music plays what can’t get CarPlay you said I got a smaller screen and I told him that wasn’t really interested to show me how to parking brakes and all that stuff not very helpful for Mercedes I can’t believe I don’t want to bother helping you Then he comes out with another telling me that I have not had gearbox oil and I cannot help me do a service plan because it is meant to be done by the people I bought it off Mercedes now they’ve just billed me £450, but I’m not paying it Done
@npoleary
6 ай бұрын
When it comes to CarPlay on a Mercedes it depends if the car has it from new. However if the car has a multimedia system called MBUX then you should be able to upgrade it to get CarPlay by purchasing it from the Mercedes me store: shop.mercedes-benz.com/en-gb/connect/pdp/smartphone-integration/602 Service advisors in dealerships will always advise what needs servicing on a car and will check to see if anything’s been missed but if you don’t think something’s right chat with them or their After Sales Manager and they should be able to help. Sadly I would offer to help but I don’t work for any car dealer or car manufacturer so you’d be better raising concerns with them directly.
