Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tools (SMART) aims to explore the emerging field of wildlife
illegal activities patrolling and anti-poaching, focusing on the integration of cutting-edge
technologies to protect and preserve our wildlife heritage. SMART tools can enhance traditional
patrolling methods, augmenting the capabilities of wildlife rangers and law enforcement agencies
on the ground. Real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, and proactive response systems are just
some of the ways technology is revolutionizing the fight against wildlife crime.
The implementation of smart patrolling strategies along Biological Corridor-3 and other adjacent
Geogs has significantly contributed to the acquisition of real-time spatial wildlife data and the
documentation of forestry-related illicit activities. Patrolling operations were primarily focused
along the Mauchhu River, during which indicators of unauthorized fishing activities were
encountered. Fishing equipment found was either incinerated on-site or confiscated for further
analysis and documentation at the office. Concurrently, the presence of wildlife was systematically
documented through the utilization of SMART applications.
The 36-kilometer patrolling route along the Mauchhu River, commencing from Chuzom Geog,
serves as an effective expedition for the comprehensive collection of wildlife data and the
assessment of the prevalence of illicit activities within forested areas
