I was about to order Smartwings for half my house when I saw your last vid that mentioned the thread enabled version would be coming, so I waited and I got in on the crowdfunding campaign and bought fifteen of them. I have to say they’re probably my most beloved smart thing in the house. So thanks for the vid & heads up!

Oh, I’m so happy to hear the video helped and you got in on the #thread version of @smartwings! 15 shades would really make your smart home next level! Congrats Melinda and thanks for watching! 🙏

Great video. Curious to hear your thoughts on Thread/HomeKit as things progress. I’ve got HomeKit motors that don’t respond at times which has been frustrating. Was thinking about upgrading to the new Thread motors, but have read mixed reviews. Since it would cost about $450 to upgrade, I want to make sure it’s worth it.

What is that 5 button Onvis switch? Looks like a perfect option for a living room switch where I want to control multiple scenes depending on activity, especially if it does double press and press and hold! (15 scenes!)

Great video. I've been looking at smart wings but the lack of skylight options has meant that I'm having to slowly save for Powerview (£2200 for 3 windows with light lock)

Great review! During Canadian winters, did the solar panels fell off the windows (due to freezing on the glass)? Also, do you think the roller shades provide good temperature insulation or the celular shades are far superior on that matter?

Hi Brad another great video. I have the B-tooth version for and love them. I have the roller shades and they look awesome!. Yes I have had 2 of my 12 stop responding 1 time in 6 months. I removed it from home kit. Held the 2 paring buttons for 12 sec or 3 jogs putting them in shipping mode. Then held held them for 10 seconds and putting them in paring mode and I was back in business and hand not had the issue. as we all know siri get really stupid sometimes and she is not reliable. I also have Alexa and bought the dongle to control them with Alexa. The really are a great produce for the price I feel the build quality is very good. They beat the look of the switchbot wand and I feel they are quieter. My favorite scene is when I turn on the master bath fan on the bedroom and bathroom blinds close and when I turn it off they open to 50% as that is how I like it. I have a lot more light in my house now since I have all my blinds open and close everyday and dont have to run around the house opening, For anyone considering the BT version they work great too. Yes you have some fails to open or close sometimes but what SH does not have that happen once in a while especially without needing a hub! I feel my SmartWings blind purchase was a sound investment and their customer service is excellent. Fast shipping and the packaging is excellent too..

@@TheBradLloyd Even the occasional disconnect is now fixed, or do those occasionally happen? Thanks for your reply! Looking into trying a handful of these shades. 🙂

@zacharycoleman1117 there will be the odd time, where they momentarily don’t respond. Not to the point where they need to be reset or anything, but it may skip an automation. This seems to be a consistent issue with thread devices, but not a significant problem.

@@TheBradLloyd alright yeah that sounds about right, the schlage encode does the same sometimes too. I think I’m going to go ahead and get some of these shades. Thanks so much for your help!

A USB C extension cable should work in case you don’t want to take them down and charge them while they’re mounted.

Probably necessary to have these in Canada where the sun never rises more than 20 degrees azimuth from the southern horizon.

@@TheBradLloyd I mean how much of a delay are we talking? I’m ok if they are a little off but would it be really bad if I had a bunch of blinds next to each other?

Hard to say. Typically it will be pretty close, but there are times where they could be 3-5ish seconds apart. Not sure how significant that is for you. I personally don’t care but I understand it looks cool if you have several blinds together that all raise and lower in sync.

I was excited for thread until I heard it was on the same frequency as WiFi. I'll stick to Z-Wave 👌🏻
