Fenton church and this pool is known as the lido i lived just up towards that church and this was my stomping ground water turned black when swimming in there lol has a little whirl pool in the middle..

Can anyone remember. The trenches that were at the *lido we used to play war games ,they filled them in after.my dad said he swam in the pool when he was young told me it was bottomless to stop me trying it.

Pam, I also remember those trenches in the 1950s...... yes it was the scene of fierce warfare! My Mum told me the trenches were dug in World War 1 as practice for local troops before going overseas. The Lido looked very different as a lad, with none of the trees. I was born in Whieldon Road, Mount Pleasant. Alan.

I grew up there and use to play on this lake when it use to freeze up with my brothers went to heron cross school great memories if anyone as got any old pictures of smith pool road across from the chip shop the old houses that use to be there before they built the bungalows I would be greatful if you could share them with me pls

If you are on fb then join STOKE ON TRENT PAST & PRESENT and I am sure someone will find a picture. I post on there regularly and some pictures of Smiths Pool I took on Saturday were posted on there too. Thanks for your comments :-)
