That's a genuine traditional japanese vocal. Authentical. Far more misplaced is a symphonical back.

@redstagwith243 To be fair, this isn't really fucked up. Its taking a great bit of classic rock, and applying their own cultural music template to it, which in and of itself takes a fair bit of skill. Its no different than In Extremo turning the old Swedish ballad of Herr Mannelig into a rock arrangement.

It is curious how this culture, so traditional and regimented in some ways really "gets" rock. They took our little ol band from the mid west Cheap Trick and gave them back to us as superstars. I lived in Japan for a year and a half. Right around the time Deep Purple Made in Japan was recorded.
