45lbs is not particularly lightweight. Other ebikes that are quite high-spec come in at around 36lbs.

That's true, there are lighter ones out there. But (from my experience) most of those are either very expensive or really compromise on performance to get the weight down 😬

@@ElectronRiderTechIconic Ultralight Step-thru currently stickered at US$1599, and (for eg.) the Velotric T1 is also stickered at US$1599 and is 36lbs and fully specced. I mean....different styles, different target markets and all that I would think, fair enough. My standard (old!) non-electric MTB is 31lbs and that's fine but I wouldn't personally want to be on a 45 or 50lbs+ ebike as lifting it upsteps or into back of a car would be a bit more difficult etc. plus the range is reduced on a heaviner bike (for same size batt). - I do think we are in a phase-change heading towards lighter ebikes, generally. Ride1Up also do a 33lb bike (the Roadster v2) but it's only single-speed and rim brakes but nothing wrong with that if it's the spec people want.

@@brianmcginley7215 great points. I haven't ridden the Velotric T1 yet though I'd love to! Looks like the ST version is only $1099 now too www.velotricbike.com/products/velotric-t1st-ebike

How long is the life of a bike battery before you have to replace it?
@ElectronRiderTech
4 ай бұрын
Typically maximum capacity will degrade to 70% in 2-3 years. It will usually still work fine after that, but range and maximum power are a lot less. It also depends on use and care. Non-removable batteries like this to tend to degrade faster because they are often left out in the elements, extreme heat and cold are very rough on lithium ion cells 😬

@@ElectronRiderTech thank you. How hard would it be to change that battery out?

No problem! For this bike, you’d need a shop mechanic to do it - ideally an Iconic Ebikes dealer. Any experienced repair shops would be able to, but they’d have to get the replacement battery from Iconic since it’s fairly unique to this frame. It would still be possible to do if Iconic was no longer in business, but more difficult. There are third-party companies that do “battery re-packing” where they replace the cells, and can work with any type of Ebike battery.
