the cheating is so fcked up because they are only thinking of themselves and the cheater, not the one who got cheated on...

I just now posed this question to one of my besties, and we both had an answer similar to Damian’s: I’d like to say that I would end the friendship, but I also understand that there might be a “maybe” clause in there. You never know what a person’s situation is. If the partner is devoted, I’d definitely end the friendship because WTF. But if the partner was abusive/negligent? That’s a whole other situation with a totally separate answer.

Real, like I don’t think it’s bad to have standards for people you’re friends with. Most people would not be friends with someone who’s, for example, a hateful/discriminatory person, so most people DO have standards and expectations that they hold their friends to. If Damien’s includes cheating (which i agree with lmao) that’s completely fair! Saying you shouldn’t expect anything of anybody rubs me the wrong way, like, why would you be friends with someone if you think you can’t rely on them to be a decent person?

@@supercalimein my honest opinion. It entirely boils down to how they react after the fact. If they're going to be high and mighty about what they've done, I do not want any part of it. If they seriously realize afterwards what they've done is wrong. And genuinely feel remorse for their actions. As a friend I would want to be there and help work that out. It is hard to ask such a question when it is very very circumstantial. Tldr; if they're beyond help, no thanks goodbye. If they see they're in the wrong. We can work on it like friends do.

Staying friends with a cheater isn't necessarily "justifying" cheating. People are complex.

For me it depends. If they just did it just because they wanted to or did it repeatedly, I probably wouldn’t associate with them any more. But if they showed genuine remorse and didn’t repeat it, I’d probably remain associated with them, but I’d be a bit shaken up about it.

my take on the cheating thing bc i feel kinda strongly about it: *NOTE: I DO PERSONALLY THINK YOU SHOULD NOT BE FRIENDS WITH SOMEONE WHO HAS CHEATED, BUT I DON'T THINK THE NO SIDE IS HORRIBLE. HERE IS WHY!* no side: - these are literally the most incoherent / poorly spoken cast members. like, they're not horrible people if they can't eloquently debate a morally questionable/gray standpoint because it's historically known that those four members are bad at eloquently speaking. (ex. angela "I KNOW DAMIEN'S" or "i'm at the teen club". amanda "salsa. yes" + her entire newscaster career. literally _anything_ olivia says. keith's infamous "you can't say um or we lose this game" moment) - they were saying that life is complicated and that other people's lives are largely not their business. - note: the term "friends" seems to vary in the room. i agree with damien and spencer personally, but they seem to be talking about *close* friends, like people you've known for years. but let's consider that there are also fairweather friends that you see at hang outs only occasionally, which seems to be what the "no side" is referring to. like, nobody wants to be close to someone you feel unsafe or uncomfortable around, but a fairweather friend is like "yeah, jason's weird but i only see him at parties every other month. fun guy, but fuckin' awful". i DO NOT agree with this, but it happens so often. i do think it should stop tho. - adding onto the previous point, they explictly said they thought cheating was wrong ("not cool"). especially keith. people shitting on keith but it's not like keith is cheating 😭 but i see where he is coming from. you don't just sever ties with someone you care for even if they fuck up a lot and/or fucked up. you try to understand but you don't need to justify their fuck up. that's what i think he was trying to say, but again, he's bad at talking eloquently. - they said that they would not be friends with the cheater if they knew both parties. this is not horrible. as humans, we dehumanize people we don't know personally. it happens all the time, that's why we have stereotypes, misundertandings, etc. - the "no team" seemed uncomfortable that other people in the room seemed uncomfortable, so they kept cracking jokes to cope with the judgement. however, this just made it look like they didn't take the topic seriously lol. what a royal fuck up on their end, especially since they seemed to be joking around damien, so they looked like mega assholes but what i hate at the end of the day, most people are going like "THEY SUPPORT CHEATING !!!!!!!!". NO! they ain't ever said that. and we can't discredit that the people on the "no side" are largely good people, it's just that everyone fucks up and can seem like an asshole sometimes. i believe they meant no harm, but these are people i'd NEVER have on my debate team (former debate captain speaking). also final conclusion: they've all obviously talked it out and/or reconciled after the awkward moment cuz damien's still on the channel (he has like two other very stable forms of income, he could literally leave if he wanted to) and they all still work together. comedy is very relationship based. if they fucked up that badly, the vibe of the channel would've been desperately ruined and nobody would be able to comfortably riff of each other

It was how they outcasted Damien it was just so fucking uncomfortable, even Spencer looked pretty uncomfortable. They where making fun of what Damien was saying, it came off as really rude. It just shows their morals, they don’t seem to care about cheaters. Sure its their opinion but a really morally bad one. Which is totally understandable why people called that out. It was also HOW they went about it and talked about it, mostly what Keith said tells you he doesn’t seem to have morals for friends. People have every right to call that out.
