The Smother's Brothers always bucked the establishment. But they weren't anti-government; they were anti-stupid, and the gov't of that time was most definitely pigheaded and stupid. They weren't afraid to speak their minds and do what they thought was right. Now, Tommy's gone, and all we have left are these wonderful shows from yesteryear. RIP, Tommy, and thanks for the laughs.

Captain Kangaroo already had the Mr. Green Jeans, green jeans market all 'sewed' up. I was only a kid during the 3 seasons their Comedy Hour aired but, I was...and still am....a big fan thanks to syndication. The brothers were HUGE supporters of The 1st Amendment, and if not for not their efforts, many great Comedians would have been silenced.....if only but for a short period of time. Their message to those who did not like their brand of Comedy was.....you have a dial on your TV, use it. When you think about it, in comparison to a LOT of comedians that followed The Smothers Brothers, the 2 brothers were very tame lol.
