After last weeks post that dealt with the brush settings, you may be in for a bit of a letdown this week. We move into the smudge and erase tools, and though they are simply fabulous, they use the same base adjustments as the brush tools.
That doesn't mean that the video is completely pointless though. There's always a little something to take a peak at.
Smudge and Erase in Procreate - The Dirty Work
When we think about smudging and erasing in natural media, we can't help but think about how dirty our hands get, or the paper gets, or the eraser shavings falling on the ground. When working digital all of these problems are a distant memory. And the cool thing about Procreate is that it allows you to use the same brushes that you drew and painted with as smudge and erase tools.
You'll find that all the settings are the same as you adjust your tools. This makes the learning curve much easier for the beginner user. Once you've created your first brush you'll be able to create your first eraser and smudge tool without a problem.
Having said all that it's sometimes hard to figure out exactly what you need to create a good eraser. Or a good smudge tool. There is a lot of playing around with settings to finally get something that feels natural or does what you want it to do.
So don't be afraid to get in there and have some fun. Experiment, and let me know what you come up with.
