This week 4 of my short tail pythons shed out and I recorded it all! Even though they all live in the same rack, they all had slightly different experiences and outcomes. These animals are my pets so I do my best to care for them, and in this video I talk about what I have to do to make shedding as successful as possible during the New England winter.
These animals originated in Sumatra, and over generations of captive breeding have been line bred into the designer morphs you see today. Although not a beginner snake, they can be successfully handled with supervision, and are not venomous.
The animals featured can easily live 20+ years in captivity, so purchasing one should not be an impulse buy. If you do decide you want a snake, make sure you understand the baby you purchase will require a much larger home and commitment than it seems, and it's best to research and speak with actual owners of the species.
