Straight to the point, clear explanation with "why" and "how" answers. Reminder at the end is also very goog idea. This is how all "tips and tricks" tutorials should looks like.

Congratulations on 400,000 subscribers. Another trick that saved me days of frustration is discovering that if you change the 3D cursor orientation from View to Geometry you can use it to set up and save axis systems based on any face at any orientation. None of the many tutorials that I did mentioned it and I'm sure a lot of people don't know about it. It would make a very useful tutorial.

Holy crap, thank you!!! I gave up on the snapping earlier today because it wasn't working for the reasons you showed. I came up with an exhausting workaround involving way too many subdivisions, the tool to transform into a circle, and extrusions. I spent about three hours on something that would have taken minutes with this method, not to mention all the time this will save with texturing, since my thing won't all be one geometry now. Cheers.

As of now im just going through tutorials I think look cool and learning the ropes, and depending on the youtuber they wont tell you these little steps theyve done or did so it ends up being hard to follow them because they didnt explain a certain step way earlier in the video. And this right here is one of the main things I wanted to learn how to do and you did it, very simple and short video. Its sooo appreciated I just want you to know that.

@@MercuryRisingFast It's meant for when you look at a plane in ortho mode. When you move a vertex an X will appear. As you move the vert to an edge, it will snap to the point on the edge that forms a right angle between the edge and the X. I think it's mostly meant for floor plans and stuff like that.

Hi Grant, thank you for great tutorial. Q. With so many quick releases, which version should one learn 2.8, 3.0 or 3.1? Am really confused. 🤔
@frankbardelli7950
2 жыл бұрын
I'd say if you are just starting out, install 3.1, or even 3.2 when it's released next month Blender went through a pretty big interface change from 2.79 to 2.8 and many incremental improvements since then. But some of those incremental changes like addition of Cycles X renderer and Geometry Nodes will greatly improve workflow, and many new tutorials will touch on Geo Nodes. Tutorials that are before 2.8 (older than 2019) may be hard to follow on the latest version. But those made after that will generally be easy to follow, as the changes have been pretty backwards compatible. The reason I say go for the newest stable is that you'll benefit from bugfixes, performance improvements, and more features
@grabbitt
2 жыл бұрын
yes i agree with Frank. Just go for the latest version as its the fastest and many of the new features you don't need to worry about too much
