Have you considered a 3D printed part to hold drill bits in the void of the ratcheting screwdriver case? Could be an economical solution for you
@HeyDerFolks

Great idea! I feel like i’ve seen either IG posts or TikToks of folks having done that, but I haven’t yet tried it myself. My 3d printer has been sitting idle for a while, but I agree that’d be a great use case. I will start to investigate, and be sure to let me know if you stumble upon an STL file

I have used many different paint markers and pens. UMark, Markal, Nissan, sharpie gold and silver, some brand I picked up in Korea that was like a toothpaste tube with a giant rollerball on the end. They all leak drip etc. I suppose if you were in yhe shipping dept of a machine shop they go empty before they leak snd smear but for the average person or even in a diesel truck shop you will toss them long before using it up

between the knipex plier wrench and snap on adjustable wrench what do you recommend.
@HeyDerFolks
4 ай бұрын
I am partial to adjustable wrenches in general because I appreciate how much easier it is to fit the tool on the fastener. That being said, I am in the minority with that view point and most folks have switched to the adjustable wrench at this point. I have both, but reach for the adjustable wrench for most use cases.

Use a cloth with penetrating oil, wipe the tools down. It cleans them very well and keeps them from rusting. Trust me, my tools always look new.

@@HeyDerFolks It's honestly the best wipes for tools I have ever tried. It shines them up like brand new and leaves a nice coat of oil to prevent corrosion. A little piece goes a long way, I use mine sparingly.

I don’t really like snap on bits. I like pb Swiss, wiha, vessel and even dewalt bits and screwdrivers. I have all the snap on screwdriver and ratchet screwdrivers to compare them to. The Williams ratchet screwdriver is slightly better but you can’t switch the shafts like the snap on/ gearwrench ones. I think the ltt is probably the best ratchet screwdriver although I still use the snap ons a lot especially the stubby. The stubby one is probably the best of the 3 snap ons. Also there is a difference between new and old snap on ratchet screwdrivers as far as back drag and smoothness. When I break mine I get better ones as replacements because I bought mine like 15+ years ago

I will tell you what to buy. Go to eio and buy the pb Swiss stubby screwdriver w either Torx or Allen bits in it. Which ever you use most for like $30. Used to be $20 like a year ago but that’s like the cheapest way to get pb Swiss bits and it’s the best/ smallest stubby screwdriver. You might never use the snap on bits ever again and you definitely won’t spend your money on the truck on them. You might spend a bunch of money on pb Swiss stuff though because fair warning they are noticeably better than the snap on bits/ screwdrivers and pretty much any other brand for small stuff. As soon as you use them you can tell instantly. I suspect it’s because Phillips is designed to cam out at a certain point and leave a square so you can use a square drive on it. The jis and iso(followed by a bunch of numbers) rated bits are not made to cam out at all and fit way deeper in the fasteners. For a set of screwdrivers get the vessel megadoras. You will never touch any other screwdriver again other than a pb Swiss Swiss grip or maybe a wiha and be impressed ever again

The replaceable shafts is a huge deal for me, and its the primary reason why I would never consider the LTT ratcheting screwdriver better than the Snap On. I hear you re: bits, those are all great contenders! Will pickup some PB swiss and report back

There’s an almost invaluable price point you missed besides the price of the tools….staying at home and not having to tow the boat allows to knock out so many other projects from time not lost towing to and from.

I have no idea what I’m doing but if I had to run a boat motor I would probably have used a big Tupperware container and cut a hole in the top to keep it from splashing out as much as possible. I play with water, electricity and mechanical stuff all day in a different way lol

I thought so too. At the end of the day its all supply and demand, so there certainly exist a large cohort of people that are willing to pay that price (else they'd have to lower it). At this point, I feel pretty comfortable doing it myself so i'll continue to do so.
