Nice review all around and one of the better technology reviews I have seen recently. 1 thing however (and this is incredibly common) You haven't explained and detailed *EXACTLY* which version you have. I'm a control &automation system engineer and when we by things like sensors there's incredible variety so I have to be fastidious with parts numbers. So I might be more sensitive than other people to wanting to know exactly what model, what software version, what CAD/CAM version. Even if all you do is say "here are the details" and flash up a slide. I kind of drives me crazy with technology reviews that so few actually detail what it is they have bought or been supplied with. Like many others (during COVID) I am looking at "what next." I just ordered a lathe and am looking at "what else" and a 3d printer is an option. I watch your review and go great that's worth considering *what do I order?* And that's the crunch. I look at google and get 1000 answers. I get snapmaker prices from under $1000 to over $3000 with an array of options and models and all sorts of stuff. As a suggestion do a follow up. And cover things like This is what else I have made and carved, and what worked and what failed. Did you solve the stringing problem in 3d printing? This is the model I have these are the upgrades I could get, software, hardware, etc. If it had these options this is what I could also do.

The laser and milling performance plus the build area are extremely underwhelming for the cost of the machine.

Are You aware that green glasses are not a valid protection for BLUE laser? For blue laser they should be orange, as they do ship now with snapmaker 2.0. Green glasses are not for blue laser protection at all.

Could buy an Ender 3 Pro + a 3018 CNC + A DIY laser engraver + a nice desk or shelf to hold all of the equipment and still have like $200 USD left over.

good for laser printing, bit a 2d cnc engraver is not really worth it! 3d prints are under par, and expensive, you are better off getting 3 machines

Pretty clever of the machine that it puts the first bit of fillament on the side of the bed so you don't have to manually grab it. But yeah, for the price I rather would risk an Ender 3 v2 with the laser engraving kit than get one of those. More affordable and larger printbed. Hell, its probably more affordable and better to convert an old Ender 3 to just an engraver. The noise of the machine wouldn't bother me as it's small enough to build an enclosure for it. Maybe even a good idea too to buy glass with the laser filtering already in it. Much safer with pets/kids near it.

Great review indeed. I have the machine for two years now and this is a solid machine. Since the software parameters are no so intuitive the company must improve the online tutorials. I got very frustrated at the beginning but after several tests I was able to achieve many things. The best thing is having three machines in one. Keep up the good work and thanks for this review.

so this thing is over US $1,000. I guess I could kind of see it if you're limited for how much space you have for equipment, but my gut is saying to just buy a 3D printer that not only prints better, but has a larger build volume too. Then you could buy a basic CNC mill from someone like Sain Smart and get the laser kit for it too. I had really wanted to like this but 125 x 125 is just way too small and the print quality leaves a lot to be desired.

This machine actually is only $800 US. I was able to obtain mine used for $300. Great price but one of the cables was broken. After a bit of troubleshooting I was able to figure that out and fix that issue.

If you're just started out I highly recommend the Prusa Mini. I just got one and out of the 4 printers I've owned, none of them hold a candle to the quality, speed, and ease of use of the Prusa. Yes, there are cheaper Chinese printers out there, but you'll spend just as much time tweaking settings and modding to get it working the way you want it to as you will actually printing.

@John Abraham Thanks John I do appreciate your info, but too late I just ordered a Creality Ender 3 V2. "Made is China" doesn't exactly scream quality, I'm not the first one to purchase one of these so we'll see how it goes.

On Amazon UK you can buy an enclosure and a z-axis extension for the Snapmaker original but not the SM 3 in 1 So what is the price of this thing? I'm guessing I could buy a decent printer and mini laser for the price of this, I did not include a CNC as I found out the hard way that cheap CNC machines are not capable of much more than little signs and circuit boards

@@AtomsLab Over? It's 850 euros which is 1000USD incl. tax. For what it can do I think its fair. The build quality is great. Edit: According to Brandon Ward, the machine in the US is only 800 (excl tax) by certain vendors.

@@annekedebruyn7797 That's way too much money for the quality of prints and engravings that it produces. It prints worse than a $200 Ender 3 and the laser engraving and milling quality is insulting.

@@AtomsLab A guy in another comment thread said that the US price is 800 but price aside, I see where you are coming from. As someone who only does small things, this thing is perfect for me It's easy to use and for the things that I do, prints good enough. (Little knobs, cable clips. I don't really print miniatures or things like that.) In my country, the homes are small so having only to replace the head to me makes it worth it. I feel like it's a bit like Apple where spec wise, it's way below the competitors, but it is more convenient to have an entire solution in one ecosystem. But I agree that if you have to space and don't mind modding, having an Ender (or a more expensive machine) with a seperate CNC/laser machine is for most people the way to go.

Lazer is dangerous and should require enclosure for both beam and fumes. 😕 Bad idea.
