Had my 1949 WFL for a couple years now. My most favorite snare. Nothing sounds like it.

This dispels the myth that 6-lug drums can't tune up high well. Sounds great!

The Supreme Concerts are great snares and built really well (minus the strainer issue at times). I've got two WFL 6.5x14's (one measures slightly deeper at 6.65) - and both sound incredible for their age and just the overall simplicity of the shell. I've also got a WFL 5.5x14 version and it too has a nice lower tone even when tuned up. The rimshots on these have that nice woody pop.

I ordered one- was not expensive-that vintage sound! really beautiful tone. Throw is janky but it is from the 1940s

That fat-detuned setting sounds gated. Perfect for an 80's sound.

I have a 58 5.5 x 14 version of this drum. And a matching 62 marching snare.

That low and dead tuning literally sounds like (wait for it) a sample.

Twenty snare wires is not snary enough except for that low fat sound plus I'd use better hoops than those .
