In November 2022, the Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated Snihurivka in Mykolaiv oblast. For 8 months the town was controlled by the Russian military. All this time, its residents lived under shelling, without water and gas supply.
Russian troops entered Snihurivka at the end of March 2022. This settlement is strategically important as it opens the way to Kherson and Mykolaiv, as well as to Kryvyi Rih. From the first days of the occupation, Russian troops began to strengthen their positions around the town to hold it.
At the end of September, Snihurivka, along with other occupied settlements of the Kherson oblast, was “annexed” by the Russian Federation after a “referendum”. However, in early November, Russian troops could not resist the onslaught of the Ukrainian army in this area and retreated. For more details about how Snihurivka lived for eight months under occupation, please, see our video report.

Russian troops invaded Snihurivka in late March 2022. The city plays a crucial strategic role, as the roads to Mykolaiv and Kherson as well as to Kryvyi Rih begin here. From the first days of occupation, Russian forces began to fortify their positions around the city to hold it.
In late September 2022, Snihurivka and the occupied Kherson region were "annexed" to the Russian Federation due to the so-called "referendum". However, at the beginning of November Russian troops had left this area because of the Ukrainian counteroffensive.
